Hey RC people, just signed up to the site even though ive been reading here for ages,My name is sean I live in little old New Zealand and have a 320liter mini reef tank that I have had for just over one year and am loving it, would have to be the best thing Ive ever spent money on,I am due to be married in 3 weeks and we have a baby due to be born early february so no tank up grades in the near future but would love a bigger set up so I can get some bigger fish,:fish2:

I wanted to stop and say hi..

I've been into fishkeeping for about 20 years. I have breed fish till I couldn't pay the electricbill.
I currently run a couple of FW tanks, both planted.
I just started my first marine system. It has been running for about 2 weeks or so. I just added rock to it last Wednesday so thats when my calender started.

It looks basicly like this. I have restacked the rocks a little. I peeled off some aptasia and made it a little flatter across the top.

I'll post pictures of it again.

My water is good, I guess. Nitrate is higher than I can get in my planted tank, but what I expect for a cycling tank.

Anyway, thanks for sharing all the information I've been scraping up from all of you.
[welcome]
look forward to seeing your progress.

seems like you have your priorities straight. take good care of that little one.

Hi everyone, Im Lucas and I have a couple tanks. Look in my sig ! Anyways Im looking forward to being apart of this community:thumbsup: and learning as much information possible to be a better fish keeper!

Hello, all... don't have salt yet, but am seriously kicking the idea around for one of my 55 gallon tanks. have been researching off and on for over a year, and decided to join a salt only forum to really round out that research, before I finally take the big leap, in the near future. Currently, I just have a 55 gallon african cichlid tank (this is the one I am considering going salt with), and an empty 125 gallon tank (I know... but I want discus in there! LOL...)

anyway, greetings from southern MD!

Hi everyone. I'm new to RC and somewhat new to the hobby. I'm planning on setting up a 40 breeder. I just finished my DIY tank and the people on this site helped me a lot in getting it done. I hope my tank would look good as the ones I've seen on some posts.

It takes quite a bit of dedication to get those show case tanks.... I wish I had that kind of discipline.

Once you have a salt tank your not going to want to deal with fresh water:) ... use the 125, you'll thank yourself later. I have a 125 and wish it was bigger ;)

LOL... I am a hard head, and typically learn the hard way! LOL... I have been waiting to have my dream discus tank for so long, I cannot help myself!

BUT... fact is, this salt thing is drawing me in more and more... I can see it happening now, as soon as this spring!

another avenue of the hobby that is going to suck your money up :D

I am new to the hobby altogether. I have a 10g freshwater tank that has 4 glofish. It's been running almost 2 months now without any major issues. A friend had a saltwater tank so I decided that I would jump in with both feet. About 2 weeks ago, I set up a 90g saltwater tank. Currently, there are 3 damsels in the tank & a bumblebee snail that hitchhiked on some live rock from the LFS. I am using an Eheim 2215 filter with the surface skimmer on the intake side, Rena heater, 2 Hydor 4's, & Nova Extreme lighting that has 2 actinic & 2 10000k bulbs.

You know there are better ways to cycle a tank these days other than subjecting fish to the deadly toxins of ammonia. I would recommend taking a step back and read through this for some great info.
