Introduction: setting up FOWLR 150 gal tank since 8/2009. Once I've got experience under my belt and money in my budget, I'll most likely go reef in another (75 or 90 gal? already own the reef lighting for it) tank. In the current tank, I have finally gotten a protein skimmer and improved the efficiency of the plumbing. My nitrates are (1.0) low and still dropping
I want to enjoy the experience of having an aquarium while making as healthy an ecosystem as possible for the tank inhabitants.
Although I can solve problems in general, I am all thumbs when it comes to DIY and rely heavily on others for those kind of changes. I want to use a refugium but have serious space constraints under the cabinet. I am currently trying different solutions to see how I can introduce some biological filtration in a converted bio-ball sump with a mag 18 pump in one compartment and a large Deltec TS1250 skimmer in the other.
I do reading on my own but forum information and shared experience continues to be a big help to me (and my tank's inhabitants).
Currently I have 2 Oscellaris/false clownfish, firefish, royal gramma basslet, pygmy cherub angelfish, sailfin tang, foxface, 2 cleaner shrimp, blue-legged hermit crabs, assorted snails, red tree sponge, orange sponge, purple gorgonia, and (oddly enough) dragon's eye zoa.
