In Doctor's Office 220 Gal Upgade

The timer is the beat thing I've tried because I know how long it takes to fill up and when it beeps I shut the water off and when it takes longer then I also know my filters are getting dirty.....I just have to be home...LOL
have fun on the tank tour ..I can't make it so take plenty of pics

7.85 isn't that bad ...keep an eye on it the next few days to see if it goes lower....did the alk change too? if so you may have to re-adjust the reactor and either drip kalk or open some windows.

Yes Mike thanks. My usual pH is 8.3-4 as the office is always airy. Will do sow testing tomorrow.

Now, I join the ranks of reefers with the the dreaded AEFWs.
I have setup 3 independent 10 gal QTs with LED lighting. (I just recvd 6 Marineland Reef LEDs units)

I dipped the largest of colonies I could remove from the rocks, then QT'ing for a few week maybe months:
12" Larry Jackson tabling acro colony
Purple Tennius colony

15" Sarmentosa tabling acro colony (looks terrible)

I just added new pellets. you can see the difference in pellet size.
The darker pellets are NP Pellets and the larger pellets are new NPX.
I bought the NPX pellets only because that was the pellets my supplier had available.

Harry hows the fight with AEFW going?
Hows the situation, has it affected many colonies or just few?

Its such a sad news....
Please keep us posted on what measures you are taking to eradicate AEFW so we can learn from your experience.

Your setup and equipment choice are very good.
Please do keep updating.

Wishing you all the best of luck and looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful setup!!

Figured out which canister was clogged. Weird how it clogged in only 7days!

The culprit! Look how clean though....

Thanks for the motivation and wishes. I'll be posting my AEFW eradication attempt.

This weekend I removed a few colonies (two of which were infected.)

I have 3 10 gal QT tanks, each with an aquaclear filter and sponge from my sump, a powerhead, and newly received LED lights. The third tank is for at-risk Acros which are not infected.

Yesterday, I dipped all the corals in CoralRx as directed then placed into the QT.

Today, I removed each colony and inspected them carefully for eggs.

I had the colonies out of water for about 40 mins as I scraped the eggs with a #15 blade on a scalpel handle. All eggs were found on the underside of the coral on tissue-less skeleton. Flushed and splashed fresh saltwater to removed any fragmented AEFW eggs, then placed back into the QT.
I think (I hope) I caught them in time as there were a few hundred eggs on the corals. In the next few days I plan to remove all acros and at risk corals, especially my Blue Acropora Millepora - Aquacultured, ORA (Acropora millepora)

hey harry i think is better to frag those pcs with the eggs off since the egg is very small u might miss one or two and it will start all over again

You may have a point there Ricky, but I already meticulously scraped the coral clean. If I missed any their deep inside the branches. Thanks for the advice, i will do that on a needed basis.

I received 6 units of the reef capable marineland LEDs fixtures. Each unit has 23 10,000K 1W bulb LEDs, so I'm using two per two foot section. Hence, 46 LED whites shining down on my corals.

Now I'm looking for supplemental lighting in actinics. I found these;
Giesemann PowerChrome AquaPink lamps bring out brilliant reds in your SPS corals and fish. Especially ideal for marine aquariums. Work best with other PowerChrome lamps to bring out pinks and purples in hard corals. Lamps peak at approximately at 420 nm. Made in Germany.

Sounds interesting, what do ya think?

DOA (dead on arrival) the ORA blue milli, and the Larry Jackson Acro colony. NOT a good idea to remove then an place the colony in a separate 10 gal tank, even if you have filtration, circulation, and flow. However these large colonies require Ca n Alk dosing even though it's in a smaller tank with frequent water changes. I learned my lesson.
