It begins... 345-gallon Starphire in-wall system

definitely the best of luck to ya with your choices. I am just not brave enough to dive in like that :). But that does not in any way mean that you can't, or won't, be successful with each and every one :D

Shouldn't be a problem...all my fish are clean!

From what I've read on the MI's is it's pretty much the luck of the draw, some eat corals others won't touch them.

The elegance is another story all together. I'm going to try the low light, sheltered and hope for the best.

Good plan!

Sounds great can't wait to see picks of all you new critters. I was drooling over a blue carpet just the other day ... maybe when the 240 is up and running.

The carpet fell through. He had to get rid of it immediately to his LFS because it was... EATING HIS FISH!

That's it no anemones for me and if I ever even mention the subject, PLEASE :uzi:

Moved the rest of the bigger corals today. Does anyone know where to get the Deltec epoxy? I've got a few things that need nailing down and the marine stuff I have is useless.

A couple of colonies attached to rocks that I don't want in the new sytem will be fragged and mounted tomorrow. I've got a buddy, CR0220, coming over tomorrow to help me place everything. MY NEW CRITTERS ARE ARRIVING TOMORROW TOO! Should be here around noon from Cali. I'm so excited...feels like Christmas eve.

Spoke to Greg at reefgeek today and they've received the BK250's should be shipping by the end of the week.

Didn't get to the pics today, sorry. Will try again tomorrow.

 Dye it blue and send it to energy.

Don't go out of your way to get the Deltec epoxy. I don't think it's any better than the rest. Doesn't set up well and sometimes never sets. Thought it might be user error but I have seen other complaints. Why don't you get the super glue "gel"? It's readily available and works really well. Also comes in large sizes.

I've got tons of SG gel. I always have problems with it holding if I'm glueing underwater but I guess I'll give it a try.

The Deltec is supposed to work under water but I haven't gotten it to do so. It's a PITA if you ask me. Often I am doing it under water because I need to place something on a rock side, but the Deltec just doesn't grab enough for that, IMO.

Thanks, that's the application I'm going to be using it for also. I'll turn off the vortechs, have a go with the SG and keep my fingers crossed.

Sometimes I glue a small piece of rod onto the bottom of the coral and jam it in a crevace. I tend to mount mine so the bottom of the coral can't be seen anyway as I don't like the "mounted" look anyway.

Neither do I.

Thanks for the tip I can get away with that on some. One thing about the pillars, things aren't as eay to hide as in a clump of rocks.

Joking aside, I think in the long run you will be happier not having that carpet :)

Thought you took the night off!

After actually thinking about I was glad I didn't get it. It just looked so nice. A real show piece to eat my show fish!

hehehe.. I actually had to work late... not even enough time to check the forums :(. And yea, those carpets are quite beautiful, but oh so deadly :(

For all the voyeurs...you know who you are.

The lights on the tank are sitting 18 inches above the water as the lights were out for three days and I don't want to freak the corals out.

Lights are listed front to back. The Maristar unit which contains the 39w t5's and the 250w de's is in the middle with the 54w bulbs on the outside.

Ist shot is T5's 2 X 39w Super Actinics and 2 X 39w Aquablues these are in the Maristar unit. Not sure what type of ballast.

2nd shot is the first lights plus 2 X 54w Blueplus and 2 X 54w Supe actinincs driven by and Icecap 660.

Third shot is all the aforementioned lights plus 3 X 250W Ushio 14K DE's driven by Bluewave Ballasts.

I'll try to get some shots of the ghetto lighting setup later.

hehehe...the chromis sure bunched up on that last shot! That tank is going to be wild when it has grown out for a year. Wild aqua-scaping.

Picked up the critters and am acclimating now.

2 atlantic sea cucumbers
1 Bonde Naso Tang
4 Female purple square Anthias
1 Elegance coral

I'll post some pics once they settle in.

Nice mrcrab!!!

You're probably better off without the real touchy critters at the start anyway.

Yieks! Fish eating anemones!!!
