It's just another 40 Breeder thread

Hey I'm starting a 40 breeder as well. And I got the same skimmer as you. I was wondering what height are you running your sump skimmer section at? And where do you put the bubbles at? I've been getting mainly just clear bubbles with a little bit of junk but not much, and my tank has been going for about 6 weeks. Thanks alot if you could just upload a pic of your skimmer in action that would be great as well :D

What kind of livestock do you have in it? I dont have much on a bioload on my tank. Only 2 fish in there right now. It sits to where the water level is just below the gate valve. I adjust it as needed. It takes a bit to get it just right to pull. Best advice is play with tuning the skimmer. Heres some pics so you can get an idea

So I got 3 chromis in qt. A blue green and 2 orange striped chromis. They have been swimming together. No aggression. And even sleeping together :)

Your tank looks great. Hats off to a really nice well thought out build. I hope you have better luck with multiple chromis than I have, those orange striped chromis looks sweet.

Thanks. I worked on it slowly and thought as much out as I could.

And the chromis seem to be doing good and happy.

Well seems all my chromis killed each other off. Came home one day last week and they were all dead. So think Im gonna make a trip to the store today and possibly get a new fish

Picked up this guy. A sunrise dottyback. I was gonna get this or the blue assessor. He seems good. Alot more active than I thought he would be so soon. And ate good too.

Hey thanks a lot for the pictures! and love the new fish! I'll be posting pics soon of my tank.
:D

Yeah I do believe the dottyback should have more vivid colors so hopefully oncehe is comfortable, he will get a brighter blue. But he seems to do pretty good. He is a bit more curious than I expected him to be.

Cool. Cant wait to see pics. I have to admit with 40 breeder so popular, its nice to see what other people do.

I'm not sure if you are aware of the aggressive nature of dottybacks. They get extremely territorial and aggressive as they settle in to their environment. It may pick on timid fish and will likely attack any newcomers once it has established dominance in the display tank.

You breeder is looking good. ;)

Thanks you. Its been well thought out..or as well thought as I am going be lol

Im aware of dottybacks nature. But the Sunset is suppose to be one of the least agressive and also Im not putting very timid fish in here. My stock list I have kept low. Right now the only thing left Im considering is a designer clown.

So I had did more research on the Sunrise and changed my mind on him. I found someone locally that took him. And to a much bigger tank.

So I have been looking for a new fish. Well I decided on a Sunburst Anthia. I picked up a male. Very nice looking fish

Update on my 40 breeder. Unfortunately the anthia didnt make it. So I waited and decided to get rid of my biocube. I took all the corals Im not willing to let go and my rainbow anemone and moved it over. I also took all the fish and moved them over also. Enjoy :)
