James404's 225g+ SPS Dominant

How does your return pump feed back into the DT? I couldn't see where u have the holes, or is it through the overflow?

The sump isn't currently hooked up, it will get connected once the fish room is tiled. The returns will be going over the top of the tank, with the canopy hiding them.

Finally made some progress today. Got the supports under the floor. Was not fun to say the least. I really wasn't sure if my body could get through the hole and there was absolutely no way to make it bigger. My fiance was kind enough to document it.

Hey james, was curious if the supports are necessary? I'm upgrading to a 120G and my house is fairly old. I don't know if weight will be an issue.. is it usually an issue in most homes?

I don't believe the supports were necessary at all, the main reason I installed them was to reduce the chance of bouncing when walking near the tank, and to prevent any cracks in the drywall.

Having read your build so far and having subscribed a few days back I admire your fortitude in keeping this build posted -- being a newbie I don't know alot and watching someone's work is very good and informative -- thanks for your help.

Thank you for tagging along, I am still learning myself and also find that following others threads to be a great source of information :)

Finished tiling the fish room, still need to run the electrical. It will be 2 new 20amp circuits going in.

coming along well!! fish room is looking good. i see you used white foam under your tank, where did you get that? i am going to use that under my 220 and couldn't find it at the home depot near me. also , what sand did you go with ?

Thanks Shaze, the foam I used I bought from Home depot, it was right in the insulation area. It isn't sold in just one big sheet, it was a package of about 8 sheet, each one about 4ft long roughly 12" wide. Lowes did not carry it btw.

For the sand I went with Caribsea Seflor special grade reef sand. I love it, I filled up and had zero cloudiness with no rinsing. Way better then the sugar fine stuff I had in the past.

ahh , i got ya. i put the pink foam under the tank as of now and thats how it was under the last owners , but it doesn't seem right to me. i saw a post about using the white foam and figured i'd ask where you got it. i think i am going to give that stuff a try. i was leaning towards the seaflor myself. thanks for the info. also , what did you use to get your cycle started?

Cool, if you already have the pink stuff I think that it will work just fine. For the cycle I use just fish food, either pellets or mysis, every 2 days or so I just put some in, it works well.

saweet, also did you find somewhere on the island that sells the carib seaflor or did you have to order it? sorry i hate asking so many questions, last one. figured i'd ask before i order mine.

I believe I ordered it from foster and smith, I don't recall seeing it sold anywhere locally. No problem at all.

appreciate it , i figured i wouldn't find it around. i'v heard nothing but good things about the special grade. thanks again. Hows the battle with the AEFW coming along?
