Fad will die quick with these IMO

Jon, you keeping them low light, low flow?? anything special? Or are you just gonna see what happens?

Cully... I'm keeping them about 4'' from the sandbed, and my tank is 20'' tall with a 6-Bulb T5 fixture & under medium flow. They took FOREVER to fully-open and acclimate, but now they're doing fine and always open wide! I was a bit nervous b/c all the pics I saw looked like they were RLY tempermental.

And btw... if you'd like, I'll bring some to trade in May. LMK Boss!

Here are a couple Japanese Zoas I got from my LFS. I'm real happy with them so far:

To comment on the health of these Zoas. I've had mine for three weeks and they have been spreading nicely. Note the 1st pic just to the left of the blue starfish, that started with 2 polyps that I cut and seeded onto the shell. You could see it spreading and its at about 6 now. Thats in three weeks.

There are a bunch of nice 25+ colonies on ebay right now. I'll wait, but a couple are really nice.

that's rediculous!!!

Well, my LFS is getting some in tomorrow. Of course, I have the unique position of cherry picking as my buddy owns the LFS. I plan on jumping into the craze with both feet. Can't wait to see these guys in person and likely pay way too much for them :)

ellinas, LOVE the 2nd ones down.

You also have yellow hornet, 2nd coming of the purple hornet, blue hornet, green hornet, Red hornet... ROLF

Just check ebay you'll know what I'm talking about. Folks trying to cash in the hornet NAME.

I don't doubt you start seeing people putting crazy names on these japanese deepwaters. This is what I really feared when the deepwaters were about to and starting to hit the market. Freakin capitalism...... I was so happy that I got mine from a seller at COLONIES or LARGE FRAGS with NO FN names. I praise those vendors and sellers for that. I'll stop at this.

i have the manhattan reefs frag swap this weekend. going to see what stupid prices they are asking for them. i mean they are pretty and all, but paying my rent is more important.

X2!

I got these yesterday from my lfs for VERY reasonable prices. Not as nice as i was expecting when i heard "japanese zoos"(i was expecting INSANE!) but still really nice, imo. The colors are better than my pics and they are different so i was very happy with them especially the last ones.

Nice, at least it looks like for the most part they are being sold in reasonable sized frags, not just 1 or 2 polyps on a disk

I was worried that would be the case also. I figured they would be just 10 polyps or so, if that. My lfs had about 8 different little colonies and i'd say all of them had at least 30 polyps and probably averaged around 50ish polyps per frag.
