Jebao Cross Flow Pump

Knew this would be coming along. Interested in how this works out. Although i'm not 100% into the gyre to begin with verse regular dc powerheads.

I'm interested. I was strongly considering a Gyre for my 125 build, and I've always been happy with my Jebao pumps. Hope the quality is at least as good as their RW series.

This is great news. Competition is usually always good for the consumer. I'm a huge gyre pump fan.

To answer a post above about quality on the maxspect gyre. Yes the bushings, mounts, noise, and wiring have all been fixed in the maxspect gyre. The blades on the xf130 is now more durable and the xf150 will get the new blades shortly.

I really hope to see the jebao come out with a nano version and I would pick it up for my 20 long tank.

Excited to see it :)

Might try it out in our frag tank and if it's pretty good, move it over to the display.

I'm really happy with the 6 WP/RWs we have running in the display, especially since they are now controlled by the Apex... but would like gyre idea and would like to see what it could do for the full tank flow.

Guessing it's not going to be a huge unit, so might need two :)

Im glad i didn't pull the trigger last month! Overall, I've been content with the two WP25's (individual controllers, bought them before the dual controller came out) but i was certainly looking for something better.

Anyone hear of a lawsuit jebao lost against hydor? I saw it in a post where i saw the jebao gyre but cant find anything about it, however if thats true i couldnt see jebao doing it again so soon with the gyre

I'm glad to hear this. I got in on the Jebao WP wavemakers early and although they had some start up issues, they certainly got better as time went by. I also got in at the begining of the Jebao DC pumps (you'd think I'd learn, right?). But every DC pump I got has worked perfectly for a couple of years now.

I've seen a couple of the gyre systems in use and I think they are a nice change from wavemakers. But the Maxspect stuff is so crazy over priced! I'll wait for the rush to buy from Jebao has passed and then buy. After all, my WP40's and WP10's are all working just fine, thank you.

I'm excited. Anyone have any info? Pics or anything?

Is it going to look exactly like the mqxspect? Like the same molds and stuff?

To me the RW (knockoffs) don't have anything in common with the vortecs other than they both have magnets. So id imagine the design won't be identical but who knows.

The RW's and WP's were more a knock off on Tunze in my opinion. Excited to see what that got brewing as well.

The Gyre are chinese made too. And pretty crappily made. I got rid of mine.
So in this instance, I don't see how a Jaebo could be any worse. Hopefully they can improve on it.

Is the Gyre design that much better than say 2 RWs?

Depends on tank / rock layout to be honest.

We have two RWs in our frag tank on the same wall pointing down the tank synced.

Will probably add their Gyre on the far wall to help out. Can be some low flow all the way down there.

Just a quick read of copyright / patent infringement enforcement in the PRC (people's republic of China) info from a few websites will give you an idea of how a lawsuit will do nothing but cost ecotech, or maxpect money and do nothing to deter jebao.

I thought this little excerpt was particularly funny:

In March 1992 Chinese authorities found that Shenzhen reflective materials institute had copied 650,000 Microsoft Corporation holograms. The institute was found to be guilty of trademark infringement against Microsoft, but was fined a mere US $252. Losses to Microsoft as a result of the infringement are estimated at US $30 million.[8]

I am a fan of jebao and use their wp, rw, dc pump, and doser. And I for one hope they keep making and improving products and selling them to us hobbiests at amazingly cheap prices.

Whoever invented the squirrel cage blower should have sued Maxxspect. For that matter, why not sue them over having programmable LED lights? Ecotech thought of that first. Why do Android smartphones exist? Apple should have sued them into the ground. I'm not clear on how copyright law works, but it seems like even in the US that broad concepts like these aren't well protected.
