Jebao Cross Flow Pump

Jebao Cross Flow Pump

Guys these will be like everything else Jabeo makes... In the trash in a 1 years time. I have wp60s that were used for one month and have been in a box ever since. took them out of the box to put them on a QT tank. Guess what they don't work after not even 30 days of use. Same story with the wp40s I have. With products like that they could be free and still not worth the hassle. Maxspect is as Chinese as they get BTW, look up their heads of marketing and sales... I met them both at MACNA

There a ton of jebao fans here, many with long term success stories. Your personal experience isn't always the standard norm. Also companies improve overtime. Jebao is a well known global aquatic manufacturer

Well known for making a crappy, cheap product for the entry level hobbiest that has no customer service. Well known indeed. "Long term success" what does that even mean? Jebao has been a company for roughly 3 yrs which is a blink of a eye in this hobby. Chinese products only improve over time when they steal more technology from another company. Fan or not you can't deny the facts

Then don't buy one.

Just been lucky with ours, more so then other pumps we've bought and with higher numbers running.

Eric at Fish Street has been really good to me as well :)

Just hit or miss, like with everything I guess.

FWIW, Jebao has been making pond pumps and other pond/aquarium equipment for over a decade. They just were relatively unknown to marine hobbyists until 2012 with the release of the WP pumps.

Been happy with my Jebao Wp-40 pumps first gen and still run like new . Only thing can say thank you Jebao opening the Doors for hobbyists. Past years big band name run the show . Now they had to drop the prices down to complet again

Lol

All my wp60's and rw20's have been bulletproof.

I think we'll need to have a verification process on site where you need to demonstrate enough proof of purchase of a product before being able to comment on it. The more of it that you've purchased, the more credibility your claims have.

Here's my proof point - not perfect, but it's something:

It gets more complicated if you're an installer or a reseller, but let's try and keep it simple. First hand users have spent their own $ and that counts.

That gives me 10 Jebao Creditbility Points, 1 Fluval Point and 1 Waveline Point. :D

This is the internets, why would i have to have done/bought/used something to talk about it like i did?

I only have 3 points... I may even have found out what was wrong with my old dc-12000 (one of the contacts was pretty bad) but haven't really tested it to see if it is back to full working order or not.

The only reason i think one of these cross flow thingies might be interesting is it could so easily sit under my overflow box... just not sure if that would be too much in my face or not. Almost need to make a dummy version out of pvc and stuck it there to see how annoying it is.

Not referring to any one post. :)
Just that if someone posts "they only make junk" or "my junk is better than your premium", you need cred-points to back up that it's based on real experience and voting with your own hard earned $, not third hand opinion that adds little to the conversation.

That was a very run-on sentence... But I'm letting it go as is.

Didn't you know that this hobby is all about who has the biggest reef-peen? If you don't have a thousand dollars return pump you ain't nothing bro.

What good is this gonna do? I could buy alot of jebao stuff but why would i wanna buy stuff that for me dont last 6 months? So you want me to keep buying junk just so you can take my post serious?

Then on the other hand i have only bought tunze pumps once, why? Because i never had to buy another pump to replace the ones i have in 11 years.

Then you get Tunze points - lots of credibility there, but no Jebao points - no credibility there.

Noone needs to buy anything to post - but would you take anyone seriously who's never used a product? Like getting a recommendation on a laptop from someone who's never used it... Can't let opinions run rampant without data occasionally getting in the way. :D

I've owned 3 wp40's, 1 wp60 and 2 rw20's (gonna order another unless the jebao gyre proves itself reliable then I'll go that route).

After modding the pumps (I replaced the little ceramic rings on each end of the impeller as that's the #1 possible issue with them) they are bulletproof.

Price has been beat to death, but why would I buy a $600+ vortec when a $70 rw20 gets the same job done and lasts just as long (in my experience)?

yeah but points wouldnt do anything, I could say I bought 20 jebao's so that would give me 20 points, in your mind I good credibilty so you should trust me more than someone with 2-4 points right? well if the reason I bought 20 jebao's is because they all took a crap on me then what? and I wouldn't be dumb enough to keep buying something with poor results so I would never get to 20 aanyway.

now let's say I bought 2 tunze's, that would only give me 2 points. well why would I need more points if they still keep working? but my credibility is crap because i have only needed to buy 2 pumps? makes no sence.

if anything I think the more points you have for a product would be a bad sign as it would mean you had to keep buying something because your last one broke so your replaceing it.

and yes I have bought 4 jebao's and 2 tunze's. 2 jebao's died in 6 months or less and the other 2 are sitting in the basement, they still work because I have only used them for a couple days. my tunze's are going still for 11 years, no need to get more points.

i just don't understand your thinking is all.

Hope that made sence

If you bought 20 Jebao's and said they were crap, then that would give more credibility to your claim that they are crap. That being said, ascribing points seems kind of silly to me.

Anyway, I've owned 4 Jebao pumps. One was an early model wp-40. It lasted around a year, and failed at some point when I was away from the tank for a couple months while it was under the care of my estranged wife (now ex). In retrospect, I'm betting that ceramic bearing fix would have worked.

Then I bought 2 RW-4's from Reefbreeders around October 2014. One failed in a couple months and was replaced under warranty. Then sent me a new motor, and it's been going strong since. The other original is also still running well.

My old MP-40 wore out a wet side within a year or so. I replaced it, then sold it. Never owned a Tunze, but would love to try one if they weren't so expensive.

correct, but what i mean is if i bought 2 pumps and they both junked out on me, you would want me to buy more of them just to get the points so people beleive me?

either way i agree the point system is a dumb idea.
