Jebao Cross Flow Pump

Are you having trouble with your Gyre?

Can't say I even bought one. I like to invest in products that have a track record for longevity. And I tend to stay away from products that are rushed to market especially after seeing the lack of quality put into the build of said item.
When I invest my $300 I like to know that the powerhead I bought will still be going strong after 6 years and not get thrashed by a stray dwarf cerith, or have the wires falling apart under water.

You have a great company there with many great products across many different lines. But IMO Maxspect dropped that ball on this one.

All of the small glitches with the Gyre have been corrected.

I am actually happy coralvue joined in as they are the one's being copied this time and like to get their imput also.

Hard to say they are getting copied as the tech and design was already used. They simply shrunk it down in size for this application. Nothing proprietary.

I like my gyre though I do wish they had sent the rugged props out to current owners for free instead of charging us when they realized they had a fault. I have been lucky in that my dwarf ceriths have not bothered the pump though.

Do you have a pic of a bigger one that they shrunk down then? The reason i say that is cause then you can say tunze didnt come up with the powerhead, they just took a boat motor and shrunk it down. There is still plenty of r&d that goes into these things so yes they were copied.

To be clear, CoralVue is not being copied, they are just going to lose market share on a type of product that they distribute. Maxspect is a Chinese company and produces their products overseas. CoralVue brings them here and ships them to stores or direct to consumer.

Maxspect also has other companies build/rebrand products for them (Razor=Zetlight). If I had to guess this isn't just a copy of the Gyre, it's probably the same pump built in the same factory with the same molds. Or at the very least built with the same molds. This is VERY prevalent in the aftermarket automotive industry with parts built overseas. In fact many companies simply buy large lots of overseas products on alibaba, slap their sticker on it, and ship it out like they did the R&D or had any type of influence in the product's manufacture. Just a guess though.

Frankly I hope it is the same pump and the price is cut drastically. Would be closer to the actual value of the pump in my opinion. I was going to purchase one but saw two them in action pumping out micro bubbles despite no air suction whatsoever (best guess is DC current leaking in saltwater causing oxidation). At least at $100 or less you will get what you pay for.

Oh no! And here I was hoping that nobody besides Maxspec would ever build something as cool as this.

Wrong, incorrect info. Zetlight copied the Razor, just like 10 other companies did. Dead wrong about the Gyre, where do your info from?

Disagree. Taking an existing working design (examples already posted in previous pages by another but a ton more online... I used to use a larger grade gyre in an animal lab I worked in to maintain movement in dosing vats until we would get through all of the doses...it helped to contain mixture consistency in the larger pipette trays) and resizing is not unique enough to claim you were copied by someone else.

It is weird we only have these types of feelings over certain items in our lives. No one jumps the gun when a window is resized, a larger diameter tire, a slightly bigger flat screen, smaller SD card ect. They are all copies and sure a company takes some R&D to make it that size but it is mainstream in weeks as there is no ability to lock in your right to a size like that on existing tech.

It is the nature of the world and it should be that way IMHO. If you dont come up with something totally new and can apply a patent to it then you better be first to market and have a good enough product and brand that others wont look to the next guy up.

I am super happy with my gyre but the blades are an issue for me and I am upset that we weren't given an option to upgrade for free once they addressed the issue. I shattered one set cleaning it so am on my second set. That all said I see nothing wrong with Jabeo in this instance as Maxspect doesn't have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to creating a design or product.

To protect that we would have to do it in other industries and as such you would have only one model of each size of TV to choose from.

Honestly not sure, it was a long time ago 2013ish. Sorry if the info was incorrect.

What info is wrong about the gyre? I'm assuming it was the info about the molds/factories? As I stated it was a guess but with the prevalence of copied molds being sold throughout China it wouldn't surprise me in any way.

Not saying your wrong i just never seen one, yes you can create this type of flow with 2 powerheads or just the design of the tank but i havent seen a bigger version of the maxspect.

And im sure if you go on tv forums or computer forums you will probably see them fighting the same way. Im sure were not the only ones to argue about someone copying others.

there are niches in everything that create in fighting to a degree about ripoffs. Dont see it in my audio forums much save for floor speakers oddly enough when really not much has changed at all since the down firing sub. LOL. but those who spent a fortune on their speakers want to be the only ones with the X wire matrix or cone construction material...

Oddly enough in my motorcycle forums we all clamor for the replicas of items as it drives prices lower and for many things like our race fairings cheaper means more money to be spent on brakes or tires.

Now that brings me back, always argue about car audio at the compitions lol. Gotta have the square shape or the alumapro's lol.

I agree competition is good, im never against that, but look at the pic of the jebao gyre and tell me that isnt a blant copy of maxspect's. Now if jebao made their own version that created a gyre flow but looked diff. that would be fine. The same way tunze and vortech have diff ways to create flow.

I might not make total sence as alot of times what i mean and what i write dont come out the same lol so forgive me.
