Jebao Cross Flow Pump

Not saying your wrong i just never seen one, yes you can create this type of flow with 2 powerheads or just the design of the tank but i havent seen a bigger version of the maxspect.

And im sure if you go on tv forums or computer forums you will probably see them fighting the same way. Im sure were not the only ones to argue about someone copying others.

Not much complaining about copying in the car forums I've frequented. Usually it's just people acting like their chosen car is the end all be all of cars, and will beat everything in a race. Also, every other brand has horrible production quality and will fall apart in 20k miles.

Maxspect has a prototype of the gyre that much larger than the 150 that's out and 180 that will be out early next year. I saw it at MACNA, the gyre was MUCH larger and was being demoed in public aquariums.

You guys have funny quibbling about crap that doesn't matter and that you have no control over.

Bent and I are heading to the bar for a beer and waiting to see a Jebao gyre.

Oh, and to the guy who said I don't know how to run a business, I ran my own business for almost 20 years and retired early! Don't talk about what you know nothing about!

Makes more sense for a company named "Jebao" to sell a product called "gyre", doesn't it?

Maxspects sounds funny. What does maxexpect? Not big profits with Jebao around

So from guaging this thread vs forum guidelines I'm left to conclude that it isn't a political discussion as long as you are pro capitalism and it isn't racist if you're anti China.

Whats the difference between a Gyre and a tower fan? not trolling.

Tower fans (probably) aren't waterproof. :lmao:

But a tower fan is just a 'fancy' package for a blower or squirrel cage fan. Which are both centrifugal fans, invented by a Russian in 1832. Strap a BLDC motor to power it (invented in 1962) and you get the fancy water jigglers we have now.

That is an entirely different thing, actually. This guy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Sablukov invented the other thing. The fan tube is more or less the same, but the housing is different it seems... Learned something new tonight heh.

It would make more sense for the Gyre to be a cross flow fan (and tower fans being the same) than it being a centrifugal fan as it spreads out the intake. I can't imagine cross flow being very efficient though, looking at the operation diagrams (for the first time), but it does make neater packages.

They did copy Vortech as much as they could... The RW series. They won't have a actual Vortech copy out, too much R&D goes into trying to copy them. Plus their price point would go up, which takes them out of the powerhead buisness. No one is going to buy a 300$ jebao

Really not that much R&D I would think to switch the RW into a wet side/dry side with the magnetics to turn the prop... I mean the RW series is already 20% of the cost of a Vortech and I cant imagine that adding in the two sided construction would add more then an additional 20%.

There is more to it than you think. The magnets also aren't cheap. If it was that easy they would have a exact copy out there already.

No I would say the patents stop that right now. That is why only vortech is in that space. There would be an immediate injunction in us and lawsuits with more teeth then anyone else could utilize against jebao

How did they copy vortech? They are not even close. Take your head out of the sand.

Err, not really. This is a patent owned by Ecotech.

Again maybe you're new to how Chinese companies do buisness but patents mean absolutely nothing to them and will and do steal intellectual property all the time. So again not sure what your point was with the patent? The WP was a clear rip off off Tunze, the RW is a clear rip off from Ecotech down to the wireless communication of the controllers. If you are arguing this then your probably the one who needs to "get your head out of the sand".

This is true but the ability to sell in the US would be hampered quickly with a simple injunction from Ecotech. no sense working to rip off a tech that you wouldnt be able to sell in a main market and could potentially get other products dropped as well.

Wireless communication and the tunze designs were open grounds so far as I know with no direct patents on any.
