Jebao Cross Flow Pump

A lot of other things I won't disclose just to be fair to the companies involved :)[/QUOTE]

:D

My tank, calcium reactor, media reactor, and Beckett skimmer(no longer using) were all built by a friend of mine who is local. Saved a ton on not having to ship etc. I'm like you too, I'll wait it out and drive if need be for a great deal. I'm a chef as employment for now, so I don't mind trading services/dinners to ppl in my local group when they are selling something I might want. :)

It's about managing our costs to a minimal.

Mine isn't that low. But it's close. I paid for the acrylic to build the tank, skimmer, reactors and such. But got a deal on it too. Then got to watch it be built and even learned a bit from my buddy. He's pretty good at acrylic work. But I have saved a ton of money by being thrifty.

I have read this thread from start to finish and only around 25% has anything to do with the initial question!!!!!!
So i will ask, any news on when the jebao/jecod CP-45 Hits the USA?

Thank you

Welsh, you are correct my friend. However instead of bashing ppl to fill space there is a different approach taking place.
Last u heard was end of January there would be a better timeframe. However to my knowledge that information hasn't been released yet.

Corey Thank you Sir. I remember reading that a few pages back lol. Without anyone blasting me, with negative comments. I know its a copy, but when it comes out, i will have one. I will keep my eyes open for Availability.

Pretty much everything is a copy. Vortech changed it by putting the motor outside the tank. In reality most others are a copy of someone. Imitation is flattering they say!
I won't have one in this tank because it doesn't fit my desires of being cordless. However I am interested in the reviews of it and hoping great success to you and others who try it. I know the grye that's out now has gotten a lot of positive reports on it. Especially once they silenced them a bit

Yes, the only thing maxspect has registered is the name gyre, but they don't own any patents.

They have applied for patents. While they haven't received a patent number as of yet, it's a provisional patent at this stage and once they get their final patent number assuming it's granted (which is a pretty safe assumption since they filed their designs long before Jebao even began copying it), they would have legal grounds for a patent infringement case under US and international patent laws. A provisional patent protects the design of a product and offers full patent protection once the official patent is granted.

Maxspect isn't dumb. Jebao is already being sued by Hydor for patent infringement on the RW and WP series and Tunze went after them as well which resulted in a end of life and redesign of the WP series leading to the RW series. I'm sure Jebao is banking on some quick money from the Gyre before being sued by Maxspect and either settling or paying royalties or getting the product shut down. Time will tell.

The Hydor complaint is specifically about the Jebao magnet mounting system which is very similar to that used by the Hydor products. How this case will hold up is anybodies guess but the magnets used by Hydor and Jebao are vastly different than those used by Tunze.

Here is the Hydor complaint.

Nah, doesn't matter cause apparently everything should be affordable to all hobbyists so name copying is nbd.

The fact that you are crying about a company making a product that does exactly the same thing for less amazes me. I guess hundai and Kia should be sued and are disgraceful too..... Youre probably the same person forcing people with termanaly I'll diseases to try and afford the $100 a pill medicine. :blown: android/google should be disbanded as well for stealing from Windows and Apple. Get over it man.

This is far from a safe assumption. There are an immense number of provisional patents that are never granted a full patent. I think that as far as a design patent Maxspect may have a decent shot. I would be very surprised to see a utility patent granted. Design patents are very very hard to defend.

Edit: Good info on patent applications vs. grants from USPTO

Sorry to bother you SkullV. I shall exit your thread seeing as I am deemed not welcome.

Since the USPTO issues patents for pretty much any application regardless of novelty obviousness or prior art Maxspect might indeed receive one.

The notion of Hydor owning a patent for magnetic coupling just illustrates how silly the whole patent system actually is.

While were at it lets just dump on the Chinese in general and anything manufactured there. Since the Chinese are obviously subhuman it isn't at all racist or xenomorphic to condemn their produce based on origin. Nor would it be seen as political and violate the guidelines of the forum right?

I just love these threads, so much to learn about the hobby and those in it.

Not my thread, and wasn't referring to you. I was referring to the individuals who pop in just to say how awful Jebao is or to condemn those that use Jebao products. Them, and the armchair attorneys.
