Maxspect does not have an actual patent yet; in fact, their application has not even been taken up for examination. I would estimate, based on when they filed it in the U.S., that it will be taken up for examination sometime this summer.
Thanks guys! I deal with IP counsel often enough as it is.
So... As to spread of the flow.. How wide is the dispersion?
I really think you should buy it. I'm waiting for your review before I jumped the gunI think this might be perfect for a cube. No matter what I do in my cube there is always sandstorm, or not enough flow!

Oh dear. I won't name them directly as I don't want RC to feel any heat from this company's own actions, but I think you can find out the true identity yourselves with the most basic of googling.
The comments also betray the true position on "patents".
Bad mouthing the competition and telling customers they are wrong for buying them, stay classy.

Random cryptic post. Why bother? I think perhaps that the intuition of some of the other members in this thread may also correct.

Tasty, any chance you can drop some flake food so it can track the flow of the water and the diffusion pattern?
If posting a review video and being initially impressed, means infatuation to you, then ok, you got me. If correcting false claims of a patent means anything, and pointing out misinformation and potentially unscrupulous behaviour offends you, then I'm afraid I make no apologies.
Without doubt they have copied many aspects of the design (not the same components) , but then look at other companies with their powerhead designs. Bar vortech, not exactly groundbreaking are they? There are not going to be many ways to make a squirrel cage pump and that design of pump was invented in the 1800's for water and gas movement.
Perhaps there should be no other propellor driven powerheads launched by anyone either.
Anyway, still happy with mine bar the current lack of Apex integration.
