Jebao Cross Flow Pump

I have the jebao gyre knock off. I've had it a few months now. It's being run in an 92 gallon corner tank. It is the only pump in the tank besides a small pump to disturb the water surface. I have to say it is very strong. It may even be too strong for my tank. Oh,everything worked right out of the box too. No complaints.

Will see how it works out.

Bought from that seller for 2 reasons.

1) Longest warranty period
2) After contacting a few sellers about a warranty, that was the seller that communicated the best. (quick to respond, good english)

There was one seller that was located closer to me (consideration for quicker return times if needed) and they offered a 90 day warranty. However, their response was very broken english which concerns me with a purchase that may need a return/repair on.

Would also add, the seller I bought from said out of all he has sold he has had 6 returns. 3 of which worked fine when tested, 2 had a bad motor and the 6th had a broken shaft which they assume was likely user error.

Said the biggest thing he has seen is that they can be finicky with getting out of alignment. Often times users inadvertently pull the motor out of alignment by pulling the cable when installing.

Also said he had emailed Jebao about what fish street was advertising and Jebao told him they didn't know what fish street was talking about. Which is interesting.

And by just bought I mean I bought it last week and it came today.

First impressions are great.

Seems sturdy, that magnet is super strong. I like that the powerhead in tank is mounted to the in tank magnet w/ vibration reducing rubber pins similar to what you see on computer fan mounts.

Pretty much dead quiet. A lot quieter than my Mp-10 (which to be fair was manufactured in 2011).

Also moves water like I wanted. I have 2 700 gph returns in my tank w/ spin streams mounted on them for random-ish flow aimed back -> front in the tank. Needed one thing going right -> left moving water across the returns.

Kicked up all sorts of gunk, have it running fairly low right now, only on about the 4th light in a 36" long tank.

Interested to see if it works long term.

Have to say the controller was a bit unintuitive. I plugged it in on full blast then started turning the knob -- nothing happened. Had to get the instruction booklet out -- press the speed button to lower the speed... ok. The knob changes the wave pattern apparently. =)

From talking to the ebay seller I bought from, Jecod told him they had no idea what fish street was talking about as far as an improved version.

So someone is not telling the whole truth somewhere in there.

I was told the same thing from 2 different vendors they said they released a big version cp55 or something and thats it

I bought the CP-40 for my 265. It's at 100%. So far so good. Works just as good as my RW-20, except it doesn't chop up fish.

I have both. Personally I like the controller on the Maxspect better, but the Jebao pump feels much more hefty and well built. The Maxspect feels frail and the jebao controller is much more limited.

Conclusion: Both have been running for several months with no issues. If I need another one, I'll save the $100+ and buy the Jebao.

After 3 failed crossflows, I went Gyre and haven't looked back. I took them apart, put them back together and nothing - frozen motors each time. Yes, the crossflow is more hefty, but the motor just likes to fail so you get the flashing red light of death. The Gyre has run flawlessly since I started it up. The controls are much nicer and there's more support out there if there's ever an issue, plus, there's a 1 yr warranty and they even give you spare parts in the box. I say save yourself the trouble and go Gyre.

+1 on Coralvue's support for the gyre here in the US. At least they've always helped me answer questions or replace things under warranty.

But seems like hit and miss support for maxspect in other countries. Unless things have changed it seems like Canadians get terrible support for Maxspect products. I hope it's changed.

About a month in with my cp-40, still working flawlessly. My ears are thankful for moving from the mp-10 to the crossflow =) No more whirring noise.

Whether you go crossflow or gyre, I highly recommend the underlying pump.

BIGCYCS805, did you ever end up getting the crossflow cp 40? I saw on other posts hat you were replacing Rw 8's. I cant decide which to go with on my 6' 125 gallon. I had originally ordered the crossflow cp 25 (on accident) and that was very weak flow (good for maybe a 75 gallon tank I would say). I returned it. I'm trying to decide on one CP 40 or 2 RW8's or 2 RW 15's ? Any input?

I did i started with one with a aqualink t1 and it had good flow just not enough so added a second with another aqualink t1 and I'm happy with the flow now. my return pump has a one-inch squid with two returns one on the left one on the right so I get good random flow the cp40s are facing each other from side to side my returns blast forward towards the glass

My tank is 860g and need a lil more flow than these offer.

I have 2xrw20's
And 3xwp60's. It's nice, but would like to have a crossflow on each end of the 12' tank as well.

My CP25 just crapped out today.. (Installed on 7/24/16)
I have it down to just the motor section and it still won't run.. It "twitches" a few times on initial start then I just hear a "sizzle".. then just throws the motor lock up LED...
Seems like the 2 ceramic bushings around the magnet shaft are worn and the impeller won't stay centered properly in the motor hole so the poles don't control it properly..

But I just ordered 2 x PP8 to replace it.. I've been very happy with the PP series pumps before..
