Large Tankers - What Skimmer You Using?

cward - that thing is impressive!!

No kidding!

I'm running a MRC MR3 w/ dual becketts, a 12" riser extension, one of the becketts has the u-tube mod and last night I added a 1" OM omni-flex to the other beckett to flow the bubble column to increase the contact time. Not sure if the OM omniflex works or not but we we'll see.

Now I have two ideas I'm throwing around right now. The first is to upgrade to a deltec or H&S NW skimmer or...

I'm thinking of building or having made a new lower section of the MRC made that is a RC style, but with a 10" or 12" base that necks down to 6" and then to the standard MRC cup. Not sure what direction I'm going to head with it yet:)

thinking of upgrading from my 135gallon to 200-265gal.
right now i use asm g3 but u think it would be enough for my upgraded tank?

i also have asm g5 but the 36" height is little too much since everything is going under the stand.
which means i need to make the stand 38" tall.

H&S A450-5x1260 for me. Being setup on a ~1700G system for a 600g tank. Here is a pic next to a 44g rubbermaid for comparison of size.

I just sent out payment for me new RK2 2400. I will post pictures in about a week when it shows up. I was told its about 9 feet tall and has a 15" diameter body. Cant wait to see what it pulls out!

I am using a Panworld 200 PS on the Areofoamer. I had a Genx Mak4 on it but I get much better results from the larger pump

I have the Aerofoamer 830 for my 325g, I have an Iwaki 70 for it
Is there a reason you went w/Pan world instead?

I have an aquamedic twin on a 200 g and a DIY with only one OR 3700 for recirculation on another 200 g. I don' t know why but my diy outskims the twin???? it uses only one pump but has more options for tuning and a smaller riser neck. I have an empty 500 g tank in my garage to be filled when my house is renovated, I plan on running a new DIY (to be build) skimmer with a 38 cm diameter tube and 3 OR 3700.

In case you haven't seen pics of my skimmer:

This 7 foot tall skimmer is air stone counter-current gravity fed from the overflow. It uses one Alita 100 air pump delivering 100ltr/minute at 120W through eight 3" air stones. That's it.

I change the stones 1x/month and clean the skimmer body with a magnet cleaner.

Here is a FS with collection bucket bottom center.

Here is a shot of the collection cup:

Due to the explosive nature of that much air pressure, I have recently rigged the collection bucket with a float valve that signals the ACIII Pro to shut of the air pump and sound an alarm. :D

My collection cup should be larger: (older shot with old rubber gasket)
