Post it anyway, most of us start with bare white live rock and no corals, that's the fun of it.

Cool idea, all of your tanks look amazing.

I started this hobby about 11 years ago at the age of 15. My uncle Chuck (eboonaman) was in the club and got me hooked instantly when I saw his beautiful 55g reef which he upgraded to a 120. He taught me a ton, showed me this club, and instantly I started to learn. I started out with a 55g and upgrade D it to a 75g. Then life happened. Went on to play baseball in college and I couldn't upkeep the tank the way I knew it needed. I decided to downgrade to a 28g nano. It keeps me actively in the hobby I love, while I am beginning my career as a teacher. I am dying to upgrade of course, but am in the marker for a house and will have to wait until settled in there. So anyway, here is my piece of the ocean for the time being.

28g Jbj nano
Kessil 150w sky blue
Tunze 9002 skimmer
Tunze ATO
Vortech MP10
Barebottom, mixed reef
Two clowns (1 true perc, 1 snowflake)
Purple pseudochromis
Flame hawkfish
As for coral, keeping things nice a simple. Some softies, some favia, small greens bubble coral, etc. I try not to over crowd the nano like crazy. So anyway here it is. Water is a little cloudy, just did a water change.

Such a great idea for a thread!

My name's Ryan. I used to work for Li Aquarium Service where I've been introduced or personally in charge of some of the biggest and best, or smallest and crappiest tanks Li has to offer. [emoji23]

I've had aquariums my entire life but it's become a full time dedicated career for me for the past 6 years. However I've been in the pet industry my entire working life.

Currently housing

A 3 tier fish quarantine rack approx 400gal

A separate observation system approx 200g

Hey all. I'm nick. I've had the pleasure of meeting a few of you in the past and can't say enough good words about the people I've come across in this hobby.
I've been reef keeping for about 6 years now and definitely still consider myself a beginner. Started with a 28g nano and moved on the a 75g I bought off Craigslist which was the source of my frustration in this hobby. Don't get me wrong, I love the hobby but couldn't understand why my 75 wasn't doing well right from the start. Zoas would disappear, fish would go missing, and I couldn't figure out why my new tank was so different than my nano I seemed to do well with. Anyway I found out what it was...finally. out of the corner of my eye I spotted it. He got sloppy. It was a eunice worm! 3 feet long. I jumped up and snatched up about 30 lbs of live rock and let it sit in my garage until I was sure the worm was gone. The worm is dead. (Sorry to whoever would've liked to see this maniacal serial killer go to a good home) the eunice left a wake of disaster as nothing was left to care for. It was my own fault since I lost the drive to care for anything I knew was going to disappear. I showed someone a pic of how the tank originality looked. (Nothing compared to you guys of course) and they said why did I let it go to ****?
Now the moral of the story...I'm back and more knowledgeable, and by the person asking that question, it lit a fire. A month back into it, tank has great levels. The few corals I have in there are doing very well.
Here's a pic of the newer tank before the beast got to everything.
