Let's get to know each other better

Kat,
Watch that Red & Blue Cyphastria (spelling), 1st pic.
It will spread like crazy over anything near it
when it grows.
Keep it an its own rock with nothing near it.

Vinny, excellent advice. I really should move it while I still can. I saw someone used a skull and let it cover the skull, it looked awesome!

I'm Jim, I have been keeping saltwater fish since the 80s and I have been in the club for many years. This is my current set up. Been through its ups and downs like all of our tanks, but it's still chugging along. Always have issues during the summer months as I have no time and usually go away for a week or so. Haven't gone to a meeting in a while as I work evenings. Hope to see everyone at NERAC.

Tank is mostly SPS. Have a few chalices and a clam.
Equipment:
Acrylic 180 DT
100 gal sump
75 gal fuge
60 gal frag tank-all plumbed together
Reeflo Dart return
2 MP 40s in DT battery backup
2 Tunze 6100 in DT
1 MP 40 in frag tank
Apex controller
ATB 1050 Skimmer
60" ATI 8 bulb ATI Sunpower have 3 Mitras 6200 awaiting installation
Currently have an old MRC calcium reactor but I also have a new GEO 618 Calcium Reactor waiting to be installed
Have a used ARID algae scrubber which will be plumbed in with the GEO CR

Think that's it.

Fish:
Purple Tang
Hippo Tang
Tinker Butterfly
Bluefaced Angel
Emperor Angel (baby)
Flame Hawk
Pygmy Hawk
Tanaka Wrasse
5 Bangii Cardinals
4 assorted clowns
Bristle tailed Filefish

Hi everyone my name is Chris. This is my first saltwater tank, it has been set up a little over a year now. Started with some soft corals and I'm now adding a few sps, keeping it as a mixed reef, and taking my time.

It's an old 90 gallon aga tank, I added the coast to coast overflow and drilled for the bean animal style drains. Sump is a 40 breeder which houses two eheim heaters, chaeto, reef octopus skimmer, and a BRS carbon and gfo reactor, though I just took the gfo out because I think I've been keeping phosphates too low. It's lit by two black box LEDs with upgraded PCB's by SB reef lights.

Fish list:
(1)Hippo tang
(1)Flame angel
(1)One spot foxface
(1)Orchid dottyback
(2) sea and reef black photon clown
(1) sea and reef ocellaris clown
(1) large sea star
(1) skunk cleaner shrimp

It's been a while since I posted a FTS.....my name is Frank....I've been a member of LIRA for awhile now.....learned a lot from this club and my fellow reefers and quite honestly could not have done this without their help. I have a 215 gal in wall display tank with a fish room on the other side of the tank. In the fish room is my 120 gal sump, 40 gal refugium w/algae turf scrubber (on reverse light cycle) and 20 gal frag tank...all on the same system, (total system volume is approximately 330 gallons). I also house a 30 gal QT tank in the fish room. For circulation I have a Reeflo Dart for my main return pump, (which feeds my calc reactor, orca protein skimmer and circulates water through the frag tank and refugium). Inside the tank I have 2 Tunze 6105's on sea-sweeps located in the back wall of the tank and a Jebao RW20 located on each end for cross circulation. The lighting consists of 3 x 180 watt LED fixtures which are now old so they only were made with blue, royal blue and cool white 3 watt Cree LEDs. Due to this I supplemented the LEDs by adding 4 x 80 watt T-5 bulbs (to round out the color spectrum). I use a BRS dual reactor for GFO & carbon and a CO2 scrubber to aid in ph control. I also have a 1/2 hp aqua logic chiller connected for the summer months. Lastly, this tank has been up and running since around Dec 2011. A lot of ups and downs as any experienced reefer can attest to.

Hey James,
Are those a couple of blue Reef Chromis in your frag tank? I had 1 for a long time, (difficult to find), and when I finally found another and added it to the tank....the other guy immediately killed him.......I guess you added them at the same time!!
Frank

Yeah Frank, I saw these little dudes about about a month ago in Bay Shore. I bought 6 and lost 3 within days. But these guys hung in and and are thriving in the frag tank. I'll leave them to marinate a little longer then throw them in the DT.
