Long Tentacle and Flower Anemone (pic included)

Hey Guys...here's a pic of my LTA and one of my flower anemones.

The flower moved clear across the tank and snuggled right up to my Long Tentacle about a month ago. Everyone seems happy and healthy despite the proximity. It worried me at first but I figured if one didn't like it they it would move. The Flower is about 4" and the LTA about the same.

I feed all my anemones 2-3 times a week and they usually get 1/2 silverside or a shot of prime reef frozen food.

Flower anemone looks great.

The "LTA" looks like it has been on decline for quite some time and I would not categorize it as "happy or healthy."

fwiw:

I would separate the two specimens, move the flower, it appears healthy enough to tolerate a move.

I would bump the feeding frequency for the "LTA", and fast.

Why do you say the lta doesn't look so good? I'm not very experienced with these guys is why I'm asking. I've had the LTA for about 5 months and it hasn't changed its appearance the whole time. This guys is expanded very regularly as well.

I enjoy feeding these guys so additional meals won't be a problem :-)

Please explain so I'll know what to look for next time.

Thanks for the heads up and God bless,
Basset

It's difficult to positively ID the LTA but it looks like a very small and bleached Macrodactyla doreensis . Bump up feedings as already suggested. What kind of lighting do you have and how far away from it are the anemones?

As far as lighting, I have 440 watt VHO (10k and actinics) over a 75 gallon tank. All my anemones are on the bottom with their foot wedged under a rock beneath the sand. The lta is in full view of the bulbs.

The above pic was taken about 2-3 months ago. I have noticed very numerous small brown dots on the tentacles of the LTA. If this guy was/is bleached, do you think that the dots are the zoo. coming back?

This anemone was sold as a green lta from a pet shop that I frequent quite often. The color is the same now as it was when I purchased it approximately 5 months ago. I also purchased a goniopora from the same location that was severly bleached as well. I just assumed that both the goni and lta were supposed to be that color.

Thanks and God bless,

It's possible that your LTA is slowly recovering.
More so than lighting, I'd be concerned about mixing Atlantic and Pacific species of anemones in the same aquarium. Additionally, (IME) Goniopora and most anemones do not make good tankmates due to allelopathy (chemical warfare).
