finished basic plumbing! time to cycle :)

I'll work on the manifold later.. waiting on more parts from BRS.

getting crowded.. playing tetris and leaving room for future plumbing. Depending on how loud this gets, I have silicone hose ready

yessir! Dr Time, Biospira, Bacter7.. mix all the baterias lol..

usually takes 2-3 weeks for my to cycle still though. all dead rocks

If you have time, I'd be curious to get your impressions about the HW 63 in action and also, how does it compare to a Vortech QD60 in terms of size and performance (price difference aside). Following.

definitely. I will work on it this weekend. Found some leaks on piping so need to fix those first.

I did test it out for 30 minutes..

1) no instruction manual at all.. no youtube instructions.. nada

2) everything is in German. No English. I've been writing down all the words and google translating...

3) not that many modes.. I've figured out Feed, Continuous, Pulse mode. I'm still learning, but seems like that's it. There are also modes for multi units linked together.

4) It is very powerful. With nothing else on, the 63 is able to make waves across my 10ft tank. Running at 100%, you can see waves for 5-6ft.. then last 2-3ft gets weaker. I believe with my return pump and Sea Swirls on, I will have no problem with flow. But once corals start growing in, I will definitely need a 2nd unit.

I do not have an MP60 to test in this tank. Trying to borrow one to do side by side comparison. Based on my observation from other MP60s, 1 will not be enough for my tank. Maybe 2-3 to achieve same result.

5) Noise level is ok. Anything <70% is quiet. 80-100% has a little hum sound to it. You can hear it 2-3ft away. This is with nothing else on in a quiet room. MP60QD is definitely more quiet.

6) I love the magnet design. You can put it anywhere. even on the overflow box if you want.

7) the controller for 63 is a brick. I think the 42 has a much cooler controller with the removable magnet knob. the 63 controller can't hang on walls and has an awkward shape. I made an acrylic box to hang it on the wall

Man one leak after another.. problem with these hard plumbing is once the sump shifts position, it's so hard to fit it back. These two sumps are a few hundred pounds connected. Then the bulkhead leaked after i adjusted pipes.. then sump connection leaked again..

5hrs later.. i think we are all good now. I hate plumbing. Next set up im leaving it to the professionals

thanks! saves me so much translation work. just noticed you are in SF. if you are ever in town, you are welcome to check out the equipment!

I will post some videos this weekend. Got to make sure no more leaks...

I made a black acrylic box to fit the controller inside. Probably won't touch it often since APEX controls the feeding.

I'll be looking to add a second 63 though. Once I start putting some corals in

plumbing was kind of loud.. took some advice and changed to the maggie muffler.

much more quiet now.

starting the plumbing work on manifold. good thing I'm a skinny and I can fit in and out..

Also started on the Genesis Storm Pro and Renew Pro

Vent fan installed. very quiet. can't hear it unless I stand directly under the vent. Minor hummm sound like AC under it

would like to hear your thoughts on the panta rhea, I have the same unit still in the box for my new build

nice! which one did you get?

Here it is running at 100%. I turned off everything so there is no sound in the room. You can hear the little hummm noise as I get closer to the pump. Anything less than 80%, you cannot hear in a totally quiet room.

At 100%, you can see the waves at mid point still. minor waves at the end of tank. However, this is not like the WAV or MP pump where water goes very straight. Water seems to go in up and down motion. like how we would float on the ocean surface

I still need to move the pump a little lower. It's creating a small vortex at times. I will also move the pump to the right side and hide it behind the rocks

surface agitation is great too. With no other equipment on, this thing is moving a ton of water. you can see the waves crashing against every wall.
