If you have time, I'd be curious to get your impressions about the HW 63 in action and also, how does it compare to a Vortech QD60 in terms of size and performance (price difference aside). Following.
definitely. I will work on it this weekend. Found some leaks on piping so need to fix those first.
I did test it out for 30 minutes..
1) no instruction manual at all.. no youtube instructions.. nada
2) everything is in German. No English. I've been writing down all the words and google translating...
3) not that many modes.. I've figured out Feed, Continuous, Pulse mode. I'm still learning, but seems like that's it. There are also modes for multi units linked together.
4) It is very powerful. With nothing else on, the 63 is able to make waves across my 10ft tank. Running at 100%, you can see waves for 5-6ft.. then last 2-3ft gets weaker. I believe with my return pump and Sea Swirls on, I will have no problem with flow. But once corals start growing in, I will definitely need a 2nd unit.
I do not have an MP60 to test in this tank. Trying to borrow one to do side by side comparison. Based on my observation from other MP60s, 1 will not be enough for my tank. Maybe 2-3 to achieve same result.
5) Noise level is ok. Anything <70% is quiet. 80-100% has a little hum sound to it. You can hear it 2-3ft away. This is with nothing else on in a quiet room. MP60QD is definitely more quiet.
6) I love the magnet design. You can put it anywhere. even on the overflow box if you want.
7) the controller for 63 is a brick. I think the 42 has a much cooler controller with the removable magnet knob. the 63 controller can't hang on walls and has an awkward shape. I made an acrylic box to hang it on the wall
