MARS 2014 Annual Fall Frag Swap

I have 2 bottles of vodka at home. My tank has been sober for over a year now. Yeah, I don't mind company after the frag swap.

Least we could for our brothers and sisters down south - you guys all rock - there is a reason mars holds a staple for the northern cali clubs!!
We are all about our members and the hobby. We run deep with the roots planted years ago
By the club. I miss some of the old reefers. ( Kevin and Kevin, Brian P. Joe, Kenny and more)

Family, Friends and Reefing. Doesn't get any better.

Woo hoo! In a little more than 24 hours, the frags will be swapping!

Hope to see a good group tonight for setup, pizza, beverages, and pre-party fun... A huge thanks in advance to everyone who helped make this all happen!

I have a question. I have a fast growing colony of e corals unknown that I got from Kim (miracles38) that is classified as an le frag. To get a bonus round, the direction says I can use 2 frags of ecorals unknown and a Jedi mind trick montipora to count as one bonus round ticket. If I frag another set of ecorals and Jedi will it count for a second round of bonus ticket? This means I have fragged 4 pieces of ecorals and 2 pieces of Jedi. Please advise.

This coral is very beautiful and abundant in my tank.

Aren't the LE frags supposed to be "separate and distinct" per ticket? Just clarifying as I am in the same situation as Glenn.

I couldnt find where it was but several posts or pages back this was brought up several times.

The LE/Ultra coral list committe agreed to allow 2 out of the 3 LE corals to be dublicates. But not all 3 can be the same.

One more thing. For the ultra round, does all the ultra frags get picked in one separate location with only ultra frags? Meaning we exchange ultra frags with other ultra frags instead of giving up ultra frags and just getting the privilege of picking first and having to figure out if we are exchanging it with another ultra frag? This is the other only part I don't understand. The le round is now clear to me. Thank you.

I got a text from Jeff. I think he said it is ok. Basically 3 frags count towards one le ticket with 2 frags to be the same. To get a second le bonus ticket another 3 frags would have to be judged separately from the previous set. I only plan to bring le and ultra corals. I don't see why it can't be done. Some people will bring 10 common corals for one le round ticket. I'ld rather have more le corals in the swap than the more common corals.

I don't think, they will put the Ultra frags on one table, they will be mixed with the other corals, correct me if I am wrong. You will just have the privilege in picking 1st.

Basically No... There is not a seperate ULTRA or LE table. The tables are only divided up by type of coral. SPS LPS Softies Etc. You get time based on which round to look on the tables for the name or typr of coral you are looking for. But you never know what you will find there are often so many LE and Ultra corals you can find them still on the tables on the second round of numbers being called or later.

The following was cut and pasted from the frag swap flyer.

http://marineaquarist.org/event/mars-2014-annual-frag-swap/

Picking will then take place in the following order:

Ultra Round: Swappers will have 5 minutes to choose a frag from the tables for each Ultra ticket they hold.

Limited Edition Round: Swappers will have 5 minutes to choose a frag from the tables for each LE ticket they hold.

Regular Swapping Rounds

After the bonus rounds are up, the general swap will then begin. Picking order will follow the standard up and back orientation (1-2-3-4-5-6) then back (6-5-4-3-2-1) then back (1-2-3-4-5-6) repeating until all frags are gone. The first round will be for 3 minutes; successive rounds will be shorter and shorter. This will continue until all frags are cleared from the tables.

No one will be allowed in the Swapping Area prior to the start of the event except for Swap Volunteers. The Swap Area will be emptied of individuals after each round and corals may be resorted on the tables in between rounds.

You can not bring ten of the same common frags for an LE ticket. You can bring
2) Ponape Birdsnest, (2) Purple Monti Cap, (2) Red Digis, (2) Pink Birdsnest, (2) Yellow Zoa frags (10 common frags)

Basically, two of a kind, besides folks that bring ten corals really help make the event last much longer and help those new to the hobby go home with a lot of corals. I have seen several people sit down after the LE/Ultra or first round and not pick any more corals. They got the couple they wanted and left the rest to the folks that were new to the hobby or dont have a lot of corals yet.

Jeff clarified it to me. All frags, ultra, le and common are all bunched together so bringing higher quality corals means only getting the privilege to pick first not exchanging an ultra with another ultra.

I am running out of real estate in my 300 display so I am more selective with what I put in these days.
