Hope all is well!

With my new tank, I haven't had any elusive acropora species, but in prior tanks it was always the Aussie Echinata. Ice Fire to be exact. I tried it a couple times and it just melted. It may be time to try it again though.

also a.abrotanoides and a.hoeksemai are both impossible for me after multiple tries.

For me it has been acropora speciosa

Some of the acropora species from South Pacific waters like a.monticulosa, a.valida and a.gemmifera can be very challenging for even seasoned SPS keepers to maintain their bright colouration.

I would say Acropora walindii. I had one rtn just from touching a small amount of superglue used to attach it.

Add me to the ice fire list. I've lost three frags & two were fully encrusted and established. They were all the white skinned Aussie types.

I would generalize and say wild deep water acros and most wild corals in general. They tend to be bleached and starving, it is hard to acclimate them, it is hard to get them to start eating again. The colonies are used to a certain water flow and food source, it is hard to duplicate that.

Interesting on the IceFire, that one has been bullet proof for me. I'd say any wild colony...I have never managed to keep one alive. The hardest species for me is a. hoeksamai. I finally have a turquoise hoeksamai from copps that has done well as far as survival goes. I have yet to get good color from it but that will come in time.

Acros from deepwater (echinata, suharsonoi, Turaki, caroliniana, etc) are the most delicate... however, shallowwater acros are harder to maintain color.

hoek's for me as well.....they can look good for a week and then just melt overnight.

does great for a couple of weeks, then boom, gone. I have gave up with it now.

I love the tables but I can't keep hyacinthus alive. Does well for a time then simply melts away.

Aussi enchinata grows like a weed in my tank but the Hoeke is another story.

A. Hoeksemai for me. One day it's doing fine, next day it's STN'ing. I also heard the A. Abrotanoides and A. Hyacinthus are difficult to keep long term...
