My 240g FOWLR

Peter,

Ive got a mappa puffer and a red sea regal angel in one quarantine tank and, a dussumieri tang and male meredethi in another quarantine tank. I'm hoping to add all 4 together to a DT which I dont have yet. How does your regal and meredethi angel do together? Is the dussy gonna terrorize the regal? This regal is so nice i would dedicate a whole tank to him but I would like them together. Any advice/experience here?

I have no experience with a dussie or a mappa, sorry. My regal took months and months to eat aggressively, so I personally wouldn't risk him with the meredithi for a while.

Las
I would be careful with a duss and your prized angels. I had a dussumieri and was pretty mellow but I added him when he was 3-4" and smaller than the angels or other tangs. A friend got one that was around 8" and he terrorized everyone else in the tank!! keep in mind Duss tangs grow very fast. Mine went from 4" to 12" in a hurry!! good luck

thanks for the advice... i think the regal will go in a reeftank by himself. Im not messing with this fish. Is a 90 gal ok for him? I might throw a mandarin in with him but he will def be the boss. maybe even the only fish.

Hey Peter, how is the treatment of the food with Metro going? Do you have any specifics as far as how much you treat the food with or how often?

I'm considering doing this, but am a litte leary about adding it as powder to the food.

I thought you had a regal and a meredethi in your tank. So far my regal is eating well. Knock on wood. Are you just saying wait till he is eating well and fat before i try the introduction?

Should i just go the route of him in a reeftank by himself? My dream was a scribbled, regal and meredethi in one large tank( all males ). But if its going to compromise the regal's health i wont risk it.

I do... but the regal got chased out of the tank the first time I tried to intro her.... back to qt for a while. Not a good combo IMO until the regal is totally acclimated to tank life/food.

How big is the tank again? I'd think if both fish are well established they'll be fine in a large enough tank. IMO.

Well at the moment they are in two seperate QT... I have a 90 gal with 120lbs of live rock just sitting here not being used. My plan was to get a 210 and use the 90 as a fuge. If I cant keep the regal in the 210 with the mappa dussy and meredethi, Id prob just put him in the 90 fuge by himself. Id def rather have them together. And yes its a temp tank for both the mappa and dussy. The dussy is 3 inches.

I'm thinking about getting rid of the dussy. I mean he's 3.5 inches and he's already messing with the meredethi whose 5.5 inches.

I know you had a bonded pair of meredethi... im thinking of getting a female to go with my male because ive heard the male coloration will be much more vibrant. Is this true? How do you feel about keeping both? The female im looking at was in the same tank with this male and was getting along great with him. Any advice here?

Btw - Im getting rid of the dussy. I want a mellow tank.

The blue mask on my male meredithi was definitely brighter in the presence of a female. That's about it though (I mean, it's a mostly black fish ;) ). If they were already getting along it would probably work...

I see- I'm debating getting her but I remember what u went thru with your pair and it makes me hesitant

I am really considering the Rainfordi from LA, any pointers? Where did you get yours from? I know they are corallivores.

I've decided the next time I bring in a difficult species, i'm going to have pods on hand. Do you think thats necessary with this fish?
