He/shes a beauty. I probably could have grown it up in my 50 for a little while at least. My flames have to go, their going way too rogue on my corals.

Bit of a plumbing issue to report. For quite some time now I've noticed two strange things. 1. The flow from the return outlets seems weaker than I remember, and 2. the sump fills up a lot higher when the pumps are off (I never would have "cut it that close" when I calculated the design of the sump). Basically, I think the return line inside the overflow has disconnected from the bulkhead somehow. So, instead of water returning up through the line inside the overflow, and out the return spouts sticking out of the overflow, it's just filling up the overflow and the disconnected return line, until it just slowly then flows out of the return spouts, and mostly just immediately goes back down the two durso drains. And when the pump is shut off, not only does the regular amount of water backflow into the sump, but so does the entire contents of the overflow, explaining the very full sump!

So, I've got a service guy coming out to fix the problem on Friday, since it's definitely not a one person job (I can't even remove the canopy without help :lol: )

Interesting... I too came home tonight to my tank making a funny gurgling sound (more so than usual) and found the water line on the 220g at the brim. Not sure what has changed since the mag 12 return has been running unrestricted now for 16 months straight. So I'm at a loss for what's going on, I just turned the valve some to slow down the return. Unless there is a snail in my pipe I'm not sure what would cause the issue to suddenly appear?

I would highly investigate that possibility

This happens when the drain socks get clogged. They form a "seal" with the disc shaped thingies they hang from, so water will literally back up all the way into the tank, and overflow the tank. Ask me how I know :rolleyes:

Good to know Peter. I for one am too lazy I suppose for the filter socks I suppose in that I have them but they are all dirty and have been for months! It's more than likely a astrea snail that wandered into the PVC... I guess when I fix that I will be drilling another bulkhead for a drain

PS - Marc, that darn heni is the biggest PITA! I never thought a heni would be so difficult to feed.
 
We've already jinxed it! :( Came home yesterday to find her hiding in the rocks; breathing looks ok. I did a 70% water change, cleaned both aquaclears, and started nitrofuracin green powder. This morning she is still alive... definitely looks like a red/infected lower jaw though
 
Note the dead body on the floor, behind the muelleri begging for food :( Incredibly fast timeline... LFS got her Thursday or Friday. I picked her up Monday afternoon. Fine and eating well as of Wednesday night. Thursday afternoon hiding in the rock. Other than behavior, and slight redness to the lower jaw, nothing visibly wrong with her. Changed water, started meds. Friday morning still alive. Friday 1pm dead. Muelleri and heni are fine.
