My 240g FOWLR

What a beautiful set up Peter! I have been planning an upgrade to a 180 Reef, but the more I read about this section the more I want to keep my current reef, but plan for a 180 FOWLR instead. You might have already answered the Qs but I am wondering: 1) did you need to install extra support on your floor for the weight of this tank? 2) Even though you don't need intense lighting since there is no corals, what light do you find to have brought out the best of all the varieties of color spectrums in all your fish?

I actually had a structural engineer come out (father of a reef club buddy) to assess the tank's location. Based on his recommendations, the tank is against the outer wall corner, instead of centered against the wall. Also, the entire stand is bolted to the studs in the wall, essentially making the stand/wall one piece.

I use four 54W T5's to light the tank. With only two bulbs to mix across the length of the 8' tank, I haven't really found a favorite combo yet. The Fiji Purple bulb is definitely nice, and I have it mixed with a super blue (?) or something like that. It's a little dim, but the colors are pretty good.

I have to admit I'm quite obsessed with this new food. After reading about the various folks using LRS frozen foods, I decided to try the fish frenzy. It's day 3 and I'm almost already through an entire pack with these hogs!! Excuse the lighting.... only two of my four T5 bulbs are running at the moment.

I've been using it now, too. I alternate feeding between this and rods food every other day.

I must say that now my fish won't even entertain frozen mysis. It's only lrs or pellets now.

Btw. Tank is amazing.

LRS is great food, I feed the herbivore blend, and if I didn't supplement it with other foods I would go through a ton of it. Fish get spoiled on it, so be prepared.

Yeah, I'm noticing that. I will have to keep the pellet diet as the first feeding, then larry's... otherwise I'll be living on the streets, with the way my fish eat that stuff!!!

That's no joke. I'm feeding about one pack every two weeks or so, not cheap. What's scary is I could definitely feed it more often.

Cute little bugger! :)

Happy to report the little scribbled is doing great in QT. Eating very well, and tolerating cupramine very well also.

Pomacanthus asfur - Removed. Very secretive, yet a bit aggressive to the other angels.
Genicanthus Lamarck
Pomacanthus chrysurus
Pomacanthus navarchus
Holacanthus tricolor
