I had to say it. Took 1.5 days at work to read every post. I have got to say best documented build and you are keeping up with it. GOOD JOB!

Oh and cars got me excited as well! My two favorite "hobbies" Here is my baby.

See it even says its mine! lol

Thanks for the kind words, tank is 1 year old & seems to be settling down.

I am not sure how I like SPS's. They are so tempermental. One day everything looks fine, then crap goes wrong... That is why all mine are from frags so if I loose one, it didn't come from a colony/ocean.

I have one frag of SPS and I am not sure how I feel about it either. I offered it to anyone around me for free but no one has come through yet.

I dream of having a garage and tank like yours one day! Being 24 and having what I have I think I am on a good path lol. My only gripe about the camaro is the Independent rear. I know its better for the twisties but wheel hope on the street/track sucks!

Hope to keep seeing updates on both the tank and the cars.

Just barely fits & only if the car is backed in.

The vette was my dads, the camaro was my college car back in 1986. A keg of beer fits in each back seat!

Tank is 4' X 10' = 40 sq ft.

20 AI's = 1 per 2 sq ft.

15 1/2" above water line & tank is 30" deep

Lights come on at 7am & ramp up for 4 hrs to (w,b,rb) 50 60 60

At 1 pm they ramp up for 1 hr to 67 80 80

At 5 pm they start ramping down to 30 30 30

and ramp to off at 9pm

I had a trumpet coral, "fox coral" LPS start to bleach that was in the middle of the tank & I had to lower it. I have many softies that reach the top of the tank & love the light.


2' & 3' Monti' growng great in the middle to top

No SPS bleaching & they are from the bottom to top.

Wheel hop?, I would imagine there are some good fixes for that, tires, springs, shocks??

Well like I said the vet was free from pop, he called one day & said he never drives it & its just sitting in the garage & was leaving it to me in his will so I should just come get it.
Funny thing is that he is my step father. My mom dated him for 8 yrs after my dad passed ( I was 12). They married for 1 yr then divorced. Him & I are still close. Great guy.

The camaro i bought for 6K when I was in college & just never sold. Now the Viper, that was fun to buy.... 6K miles on it & had rebuilt, pistons, rods, heads, new crank,balanced, Novi supercharger. hehe

Thanks for responding AJT I have 10 units 18 inches above the water line and am experimenting with percentages. Currently I am at 35/55/55. Will plan on gradually increasing based on your data. Appreciate your input. BTW I do not know how you and your wife sleep with your tank in the bedroom. Mine is off the master yet near my "call room" where I sleep when working. It is gurgling yet not loud but is contained behind walls. We insulated the walls yet sound escapes. Your wife is a "Saint" and must love you very much! Thank again.

It does not gurgle at all. Standpipes are silent & I have water from returns flowing into PVC that end at close to the bottom of filter bag. Skimmer overflow is plumbed to the patio.

The only thing I hear is the motors running & we both like to sleep to white noise.

She is definately great when it comes to my hobbies. She knew I had a 200 when I met her & she sees how it makes me happy. I have a tad of OCD, so it keeps me busy.

Yeah there are some fixes for wheel hop but then I decided to buy a fish tank. I had some big plans for a cam, stall, headers, tune, bushings and drop springs for the winter. Now I bought a winter car and a tank. Oh well I get a lot of enjoyment from the tank. It was 23 here this morning in Chicago and I have a tropical beach in my living room!

Looks great, definitely will be going with the AI's. Does your Ellbi Angel do any nipping?

He started nipping on a prize brain last week & had to put the brain in the sump.

I really like the ellbi, bought a fish trap just in case.
