My humble SPS journey - Shallow 80g

Observant, not creepy. ;)

I sure hope it works, seriously, it seems too good to be true though. I'm going to try and document it the best that I can, if it works then it probably has to be one of the coolest products on the market, if not, it was worth a shot. I'm not sure how to proceed after that, it better work or I'll probably cry haha.

I too am hoping it works. I have bryopsis in 400g sps tank and have also heard the Kent Tek M does not work as it use to. I have a couple bottles of Vibrant coming and will document it in my build thread. Like you, I feel it is worth a shot.

I think it's worth a shot for sure, hopefully it's the new miracle product like tech m used to be.

I am following your experiment with great anticipation and expectation.

I'm not holding my breath but there's been some encouraging results posted so we'll see! I sure hope it works.

Colors are coming back nicely Josh! What are you running your nitrate/phosphate at now?

Thank you!

Hey Josh, I had some byropsis before, one fine day I see that something had actually munched on them as they are significantly lesser. No idea who did it though. Could be one of these guys,

- yellow tang or blue tang?
- sea hare
- spiny star astrea snail
- tuxedo urchin (not too sure as he could not have got into the small space where the byropsis was but wont rule it out)

Thanks Patrick! :)

Yeah I've bought a Scribbled Rabbitfish and a Starry Blenny in hopes of one of them eating it so far with no luck, my next purchase will be a yellow tang if this product doesn't work. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with me, wish me luck! :)

I'm definitely interested in hearing how you go with the Vibrant, especially with bryopsis issues as that stuff os the worst! lol the tank looks fantastic though Josh and that mag is just gorgeous :inlove:

I've decided that for my system I will be dosing 10ml Mon/Wed/Fri, this is one day more than the recommended amount however I'd like to knock this bryopsis problem out asap. There are people doing a much higher dose than this with no negative effects so I'm hopeful I won't either, will be keeping a close eye on it though. I trimmed my bryopsis quite a bit last Thursday, hopeful that it would also help speed the process up.

Here is an updated FTS to show the bryopsis now/tank in general.

New Multibar Angelfish - already nipping LPS, oh well! Biggles gets his way, no more flubber.

You can somewhat see the bryopsis in the picture above the angel kind of going grey at the tips, I've dosed three times thus far. Not 100% convinced it's from the vibrant dosing, it could just be from me trimming, time will tell.

Thanks Dom, appreciate it man. :)

Ah just caught the Starcki Damselfish out so I had to grab the camera, didn't think I would before lights out, I got this guy with the Multibar Angel. One more picture. :p

Interested as well.. I heard it's just vinegar and some bacteria..
Josh do you know what in it?
Are you testing nutrients while dosing?
How is the multibar, so far.. that's another fish I'd like to add to my already crowded tank.. Is he nipping?

That is one sexy fish!

Thanks Mark. :)

Here's what the bottle says

95% Cultured Bacteria
0.5% Vinegar
3.5% Other Ingredients

I'm not testing nutrients right now, but I should probably start.

Multibar is killing my (ugly) cynarina that never colored up in my system, I paid absurdly too much for it from BSA and it came in almost dead, and has been nipping my neon green trumpets. I'll be getting rid of the trumpets tomorrow but I'm just going to leave the cynarina as a snack. :celeb1: No issues with SPS nipping yet which is the only thing that matters, am I right? :D

Thanks Mark. :)

Thanks for the info, Josh.
Rockworm (Ward) is also just starting vibrant, if you want to compare notes: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2577596&goto=newpost

@joshky, I tested my nutrients before I started today. My P04 is 0.015 and my N03 is undetectable to my eye. I am a little concerned that the nutrient levels may jump as algae dies off, so I plan to monitor it fairly close.

All your photos are spectacular ! Keep the photos coming!

Thanks man, appreciate the compliment.

If anything I'd be more concerned with nutrients becoming too depleted, no? I mean most of what we're dosing is bacteria, maybe I'm misunderstanding how this product works because it's proprietary information on how it exactly works lol. I'll keep a closer eye on nutrients and see what kind of swings happen, we'll see. :)

My thinking is the nutrients tied up in the algae will be released into the water column as it dies off. I may be totally off base with this assumption because I am not a chemist. I will keep a log in my build thread. I am interested to see where the process goes.

So I don't want to get ahead of myself and read into this too much, but I figured it was worth documenting in case this is something; the remaining bryopsis in my overflow is looking really weird, has a clear slimy substance covering it that I've never witnessed before, could it be the vibrant working? I see it on some of the bryopsis in the tank too, but not to the magnitude of the overflow, I imagine this may be a flow related thing? Let me know what you think, maybe there's another explanation for this. :)

I get that, but I know with other bacterial products that they reduce nutrients in the system. Perhaps they'll cancel each other out and nutrients will remain the same?

Very good point. One of the reasons I want to monitor nutrients is to see what impact the Vibrant has. I would like to see a consistent nutrient value over time, but if this is not the case, then my observations may help others.

Do you still intend to dose every other day? If so, are you worried about the impact on your stonies? I am considering trying this method, but am concerned about stability in my tank parameters. I am trying to balance patience with the Vibrant efficacy. Not an easy exercise. [emoji3]
