My humble SPS journey - Shallow 80g

The tort!! :eek1: oh my god the tort :inlove: :inlove:

Nem is stunning too, the red in it contrasts really well with those lovely tips!

Whatyamean "...the colors aren't that great..."?
That is one exceptional color Oregon Tort.

Agreed, the tort is looking really good right now and I have no complaints with it. Other than it being somewhat of a slow grower, it's been a super easy acro to keep and seemingly handles small changes well in my tank. I can't wait for it to grow a bit thicker and actually look like a tort. :D

It's been a little over a week since my last update and my colors are continuing to rebound on me, I'm seeing better growth in corals again and along with that better bryopsis growth. I can't say I'm thrilled about the latter, but I'll take it if it means better coloration on my acros. I've backed off from general husbandry and continued to dose acropower (7ml twice a week), KZ sponge power (4 drops daily), and upped my feeding a bit more. I also removed half of my marinepure block, I spread that out over two weeks. Still need more time before colors get back to how they were early June, but overall I have to admit these small changes and patience seem to be doing the trick. I'll try to take some photos on Sunday, hopefully including an updated FTS. :)

Colors are coming back to my acros, it was definitely a nutrient deprivation issue. Here are some updated photos of acros that're doing well.

looking good Josh!!

Cheers

Thanks Flo! Growth and colors have returned and it feels great, very happy with the direction my tank has taken once again, more colorful updates to come I hope. :)

And can I just say that the pink lemonade is freaking AMAZING right now? Just saying. :D

Sorry for the late response I started a new job, gotta pay the bills. :uhoh2:

Awesome to see the colors coming back. That tort is so blue, what an awesome coral.

Thanks Mark!

Very nice Josh, you are right, that PL is spot on :)

Thanks Perry, love that acro.

 Thanks Flo!

Groovy as mate!! :) I wouldn't expect anything less from you though ;) lol

Haha Dom you're too kind to me, thanks.

Nice corals. Your coralline algae is so thick. Keep up the good work.

In some spots it really is, hate the stuff but it's OK on rocks I guess. :celeb1:

Love the yellow from the pink lemonade! This yellow is from the limited nutrients only or do you attribute with other thing?

Lovely photos.

Pink lemonade really stands out.

I can see some bryopsis at the background. Are you doing anything about it?

High light and low nutrients is the best I can say for sure.

Thanks Bulent! :) Yes and no, I want to try raising the mag with kent tech m, but a lot of people say it doesn't work anymore so I'm not really sure how to proceed without a total reboot. My goal has been to try and keep it trimmed back, hopefully unhealthy because of doing so, and let the acros kill it off as they encrust; but life has been pretty busy and that hasn't really been working that well. :hmm2:

Because I'm a creepy stalker on all the forums, you'll have to post up with how the Vibrant works out for you mate! The thread on r-2-r has gained quite a substantial following and from what I've researched it seems to be solid! Will be interesting hearing from someone I trust rather than all the names posting that I don't recognise lol

Observant, not creepy. ;)

I sure hope it works, seriously, it seems too good to be true though. I'm going to try and document it the best that I can, if it works then it probably has to be one of the coolest products on the market, if not, it was worth a shot. I'm not sure how to proceed after that, it better work or I'll probably cry haha.

As Dom has already pointed out, I'm trying a relatively new product out called Vibrant from Underwater Creations Inc. to help get rid of a growing bryopsis issue going on in my tank.

Here are some updated photographs further depicting how bad my bryopsis is getting now that I've got the nutrients where they should be and less time to keep up with maintaining it.

Basically Vibrant is a dosing supplement, how much and how often depends on what you're trying to get rid of. For bryopsis you need to dose 1ml per 10g twice weekly for 6-30 doses, basically until the bryopsis is gone, at that point you should be able to stop dosing altogether. I really hope this product works as intended and helps me conquer my bryopsis problem, wish me luck!
