New AquaController 3/3 Pro Firmware

That is strange.

I checked both computers and the only difference between both computers that I could see was the Java version. In version 10, graphs were working fine, upgraded to Java 13 and graphs broke.

I did have flash player (latest) installed on both computers.

I downloaded and reinstalled Flash player (same version) and now the graphs work.

Go figure!

Thanks aalhait.. but whats AN3?

harman, drdoolittle... I got the same problem... I had to bounce my AC3P (power cycle it) and even shutdown my desktop and reboot AN3 to have it work again.

i ran it once and after that it'd been giving me an error, mtc had stopped working, and quit. i had to use my old laptop with xp and run it a few times before until it finally upgraded.

I have updated my firmware and then attempted to update the web pages. Updating the web pages eventually hangs on the following:

"Sending fatgraph.swf"

AquaController Web Page Update Starting

I can't connect with my iPhone any longer. Connecting via web browser on computer still works fine.

Self test results show:
Rev 3.40S - 4F09
Passed # 7235

Any suggestions on getting iPhone app working again? Yes, the iPhone app is updated to new version. Which is the reason I decided to upgrade the AC3 firmware in the first place.

EDIT: a few more details

My iPhone Aquanotes appears to connect (shows green icon when connected).
I have two controllers setup in Aquanotes. One for the public IP and one for the private. When connected to my private LAN (wireless) on iphone, the private connects and public fails. When connected via 3G, the public connects and the private fails. So that is all working properly.

When I go to the controller in Aquanotes though, the page does not have info.

Warboc: your web pages didnot update at all. Either your IP or login/pass is wrong or its a firewall issue. You should see "-Success" after each file is uploaded.

For the iPhone app, make sure you are connecting to port 80.

Windows firewall is off. Controller and laptop both connected to a switch. Nothing else on that switch.

Laptop ip: 192.168.1.1
Ac3 ip via dhcp: 192.168.1.50

Received firmware update just fine.

Maybe I need to set ac3 to turn dhcp on?

As for port, iPhone app now uses web port 80 instead of telnet port 23?

These two lines together don't make sense... if the AC3 has a IP address assigned by DHCP, then the DHCP setting is already enabled. can you clarify?

Is your AC3 http port set to 80? If not, change it to 80 and try loading the web pages again with ACLOADER.

Thanks for the help zig. Everything taken care of.

Russ.... will make sense of it for ya... or try to. :)

The instructions are not very useful for wireless users. Specifically those of us who use a wireless gaming adapter to connect our AC3 to our network, and use a computer that connects via wireless.

Basically what you have to do is:

1) Logon to web page for your router and disable DHCP on it. Remember it's IP address though.
2) Plug ethernet cable directly from AC3 to router (instead of directly into wireless adapter.
3) Plug ethernet cable from computer directly to router.
4) Configure ethernet interface on computer with an IP address such as 192.168.1.10, preferably in same network as your router. This will make things easier later on.
5) Open AC3 updater software and setup DHCP pool to start with an appropriate address such as 192.168.1.50.
6) Go through the process of power cycling AC3 and holding down reset, then selecting update flash.

That pretty much takes care of updating the firmware. The AC3 picks up DHCP address from computer. Then loads info via the boot file and retrieves new firmware.

Once that is done, I tried to enter the address my AC3 had gotten via DHCP. Then did the web pages update. I looked at network settings and AC3 had the hard set ip address. So I guess it only fetches the IP address from the AC loader temporarily until the flash update (firmware update) is done.

I figured I would just set AC3 to DHCP, then power cycle. So I could then use AC Loader to update the web pages.

Ultimately what I did was to reconnect network as it was before, then update the web pages using the ip my AC3 has always been configured with.

The rest of the process is below:

7) Make sure your computer has an ip address on same network as your router ip address.
8) Connect to the routers web page and turn dhcp back on.
9) Connect AC3 back to wireless (gaming) adapter.
10) Remove network settings entries done in step 6 earlier.
11) Fetch wireless address via dhcp again on computer form router.
12) Update web pages on AC3 by entering its ip address and credentials.

Of course the above steps involve moving router close to computer and AC3. In some cases, router is likely mounted somewhere and this is a pita.

Hopefully Neptune will make updating the firmware much easier in the future. The process is not hard, but it can be overwhelming for those without a little bit of technical expertise.

LOL... thanks Warboc. What i meant was those two statements seemed to contradict. I'm a networking consultant... I eat routers, switches and firewalls for breakfast.

BTW, this procedure is much easier than messing w/ all the DHCP:

<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=14981690#post14981690 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by RussM
1. download and unzip the firmware archive
2. run ACLOADER.EXE
3. Open a command prompt and telnet into the AC3 (telnet ipaddress)
4. type 'v' then hit ENTER; note the firmware version
5. type 'update' then ENTER
6. press 'y' when prompted
7. watch the ACLOADER window... in the white area, you should something see this:

.....................
Client 192.168.xxx.xxx:xxxx .\aqua.bin, 211 Blocks Served

8. wait 10 seconds, then hit ENTER a couple of times until you see "Connection to host lost".
9. telnet into the AC3 again
10. type 'v' then ENTER; note the new firmware version
11. type 'exit' then ENTER

Russ, I know what ya meant.

Funny thing is that I live at a Cisco IOS prompt ten hours a day. I get home late last night and the simple task of updating the firmware got the best of me. Note to self: Don't update critical iPhone apps before researching the update. Only reason I was in a hurry to do the firmware update was to restore my iphone connectivity.

Updating via telnet is ideal. Glad to know it can be done. The readme does not indicate it. Definitely will do that from now, thanks!

By the way, does anyone really use a command prompt to telnet? :D

Well mine was running fine for about a week and today while accessing it on the road ( the whole reason I have a controller ) and it stopped responding.

I had to have wife power reset AC3 to restore.

I power cycled the controller and rebooted my computer. I now can see the system status, and modify programs. But i still cant used the status page to manually control anything.

i have been using my iphone aquanote to manually turn on a device instead of the desktoop aquanote.

This is a known issue and has been reported to Curt.
