new camera and lens - pics showoff time!!!

That new Interrupta is feeling like the odd man out in your tank!! Sound's like you're doing everything right, so good luck with all of the fish.

I's funny that you say that cuz here what I wrote in the Reef Fish Forum last night:

Well I got a little impatient today and decided to let my new Interrupta out 3 days ahead of schedule. I mean my existing Interrupta wasn't showing any signs of aggression to the new one in it's acclimation box. It seemed like it was ignoring it.

It wasn't a good idea. Right when I let the new one out, mine starting to chase it around my tank fervently. I was extremely worried because I had no idea to how to catch either one. Well luckily, mine laid off the new one for a bit and the new one rested near a corner. I was able to scoop it up quickly with a net and now it's back in it's acclimation box. It was breathing very heavily as with my existing Interrupta too but they've both calmed down. My existing Interrupta is now standing guard around the acclimation box.

PLAN B: I'm gonna catch my existing Interrupta with my fish trap tomorrow. Then I'm going to put it in my refugium for a good 2-3 weeks to let the new Interrupta establish itself in my tank. In that time, the existing Interrupta should un-establish itself too and forget about it's dominance in the tank. I've done this process a couple of times with domineering fairy wrasses and it's worked in the past. So hopefully it'll work this time around too.

Wish me luck guys!

Well, I just caught my Interrupta and put it in time out in my refugium. But now my gem tang is giving the new Interrupta a hard time. I think because the Interrupa has so many spots, it thinks it's a new tang! It's not harassing the Interrupta anywhere near what my Interrupta was doing so I'll see how it goes. If it doesn't stop by this afternoon, I may put my gem tang in time out for a few days too!

Another option is put a cheap fish that they can beat up on..
( maybe a bicolor to eat your Majano too?)
Or potters / coral beauty since they kinda resemble a interuptus.
The new interuptus will be ignored if the new angels is slightly smaller
I done this in the past and it works with dwarf angel

Thanks Lawrence. That's actually my Plan C and my last resort! It seems cruel to me to sacrifice a fish, but if all else fails...

I'm pretty confident putting my Interrupta in time out will work though. 3 weeks should be plenty long enough for it to lose it dominance in dt.

OK, my gem has given up harassing the new Interrupta. The new Interrupta has so many more spot near it's face than mine. I think mine did too when it was that young. I hope this one doesn't lose them. Here's a pic of it getting to know its new home:

The Interrupta with my original little Earlie:

Also the good news is that my new Earlie Pair has acclimated to the tank very well and everyone is living in relative peace. Here's a pic of the trio. It was impossible to get them all in the frame at once at the same depth so sorry about the blurriness.

This is the new female with my original little guy. You can see how much bigger the female is:

Cool group shot with some of the fairy wrasses and my OG Pylie's trying to tell everyone he's the boss:

Soooon I'm sure. Looks like there are some nice large colonies in there. Also obviously a gorgeous fish collection.

Hey everyone...I wrote this up in the Reef Fish forum, but I thought I'd share it in our local forum too!

And we have SUCCESS!!! After two weeks of having the run of my tank and my old Interrupta being in lockdown in the refugium, my new Interrupta seemed comfortable enough in his new home. I was going to wait 3 weeks, but I didn't want the new Interrupta to get to dominate in the DT.

Anyway, during the two weeks, I had Elite Aquatics make a custom acclimation box for me. It's basically just double the length of the regular acclimation box. My idea was to catch the new Interrupta and put it in the larger acclimation box with my Interrupta to see if they fought. I figured if they did, it would be a lot easier to catch and separate them in the acclimation box, than in my DT. Anyway, here they are getting along well together...just both a little freaked out to be in there:

They got along all day together, so I decided to just let them go in the DT. They chased each other around just a little, but everyone is one big happy family now.

Sorry about the bad pictures. The room got pretty dark. I try to take better ones tomorrow. Anyway, I've finally got a pair of Interrupta in my display tank again. I hadn't had that since the pair I got from RCT 6 years ago...Yay!

Looks amazing Wayne
Its Time for the TOTM

Scott might be joining you soon with interruptus.
The fish crazy group expected a special order soon. To bad I can't keep my order since my qt and cube tank are velvet infested.

I'd vote for you on TOTM. I wouldn't want to curse your tank thou. Maybe some more info and insight on how you have such a nice tank. Love the pics, keep them coming. Maybe make a video.

Thanks guys, yeah I'm pretty stoked that I've got the pair of Interrupta getting along in the same tank. I think I'm finally done stocking the tank.

I'll work on a video next. More to come!

Done, don,t kid yourself addict! It has been 3 days since my last fish purchase, and PIA has a pair of Bells Flashers;)

Beautiful tank Wayne, and I think your colonies are pretty grown in and you have my vote as well.

Wayne,

I think it's great to see the pair of interruptus doing well in your tank, in the photo with the gem and then 2 of the pajama cardinals.

I still have blue damsels mixed in with all my other fish. Sometimes simple is still good.

So can we request a nice video of feeding time in your tank to see more of your fish collection together.

And I think Unique got the females of some of the wrasses you have... if you're looking for females.

Thanks guys for your kind words. Yeah I'm pretty satisfied with my current fish. I really have all the ones I want. I mean a Rhomboid would be nice, but I'm scared of that swim bladder disease. I've only experienced that disease with Rhomboids and it spread to my other wrasses.

There are basically only two other fish I'd put my house in a 2nd mortgage for and that's a pair of juvenile Debelius Pygmy angels and a pair of Pintail Fairy Wrasses but I can't see them coming to the market anytime soon.

In about 2 months though, I have to decide which colonies I may move over to my shallow reef. I've been on a Sps buying rampage the last month and bought about 30 different frags. They'll be ready to come out of my QT by then so I need to make space in my DT. Until then, Yeah, I'm just gonna sit back and enjoy my tank for a while.

I'm gonna to try and work on a video this weekend. I'll let uou guys know as soon as I'm done. Thanks again for the words of encouragement. I'm glad you enjoy my pictures as much as I do.

Yeah I saw Scott. Bell Flashers never really did anything for me though.

even for a lanceolatus?

Shoot, I'd get rid all of my Fairies for that wrasses, but I doubt it'll be available to us anytime soon

Also what temp are you keeping them at?

I was running it at 74-76 for the longest time, but I bumped it up to 76-78 a couple of months ago and the Interrupta didn't seem to mind it. I think all it did was make the fish hungrier by speeding up their metabolism.

Sometimes simple is still good.

I totally agree with you. Every time I put a new fish or coral in my tank now, my wife's favorite phrase is 'I think you're over-impacting the reef!' I'm starting to agree with her now. I think I'm pushing the limits of fish in my tank. That's why I'm not looking to get females of my other fairy wrasses. I mean if I had a larger tank, I definitely would.
