2 weeks ago i replace an Aqua C 180 on my 240, i know, too small, long story. I got the 3000 model and it is sweet. Its quieter, uses less Kw and has raised to ORP from 290 (Aqua C) to 360. the 3000 is an amazing deal for the money. I ended up cutting the bottom waste drain off and drilling and attaching it to the side. this allowed it to fit under my tank when removing the cup.
Sweet skimmer with tons of tiny tiny bubbles.

Sean

any photos to share of this baby in action? :)

I will post some photos Monday when I gat back from Vegas. I'm up here for a state contractors test. When i left it was working away and the bubbles were sweet. I cant get over how quiet it is. Also I had to modify the scum cup so that when the scum bucket fills it will shut down the skimmer. this makes my wife and the carpet happy.

That LFS has them. Cheaper than custom aquatics I think. GIve Ryan a call and Im sure he will ship.

The site doesn't show anything on a few sections including the "Dry Goods".

How much are they asking for and how much cheaper are they compare to CA?

So I have been doing all the research I can on these skimmers and have read through some interesting threads. After waiding through it all and actually being able to look at one in person, I decided to purchase a Pacific Coast RPS-3000. I am going to try this out on my soon to be up and running 224g SPS tank. I had read the whole Deltec vs Octopus thread and had started to regret placing my order but after seeing it I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The craftsmaship is as good as any I have seen. This thing is a monster. Now I am not saying that it is a Deltec, but regardless of what people are saying, this is a well made piece of equipment. As for performance, we will see. But at the price point I don't think it can be beat. I was fortunate enough to get mine at a sale price. I will let you know how it works out. I am thinking of throwing it on my rock cooking tank and see what it does.

Ya, the thread is not as good without pictures. Oh well, guess it isn't a really good skimmer.

Ask and you shall receive:D
I can only speak about the build on these units as I have not fired mine up yet. There is still the big question of performance and customer service. I was impressed enough to buy it and I am not one to go the lesser route. Everything I have amassed for the new tank is top quality. I decided to take a gamble on this in hopes that it will pan out. I met with the importer yesterday and grilled him thoroughly before I purchased. He seemed very knowledgeable about the product and passionate about it ability to perform. Time will tell.
After being able to see it in person, I have to say there were two things that I thought were slight negatives. One being the ball valve instead of gate, this is fairly easy to remedy should I need to. The other was the drain/union issue. For me this is not an issue as I am not trying to cram this into a cabinet that is too small and if I were, I would just move it. All in all if these end up being the only issues, I got a sweet deal.

Where would you get a gate valve to replace the ball valve since they use metric plumbing?

I would use an adapter. I talked to the importer about this and he stated they are available. I will have to contact him to find out where.

Yes it did. The only thing needed to start this out of th box is a feed pump.

can it be used externally? does it leak at all is what im asking.

How much did you pay for that skimmer? Was it less than $350?

I have sent them an email requesting the info on the adapter, I will let you kow what I find out.

This skimmer can be used externally. You would need a monster sump to put it in if you chose to do so as the footprint is 9x21 and it is 30.25 tall.

Cheapest I have found one including shipping is 375.00.
As for what I paid, I paid slightly more. But I bought from an LFS. The few extra bucks are worth it to support the LFS.
