What program do you use to edit your pictures in? I have 20 years experience with photoshop and that helps a bit. It's necessary to fix levels/whitebalance etc in photoshop to get the colours correct (especially with led lighting).

Hi Darek,

You need to work a little on the focus. I was not able to read the exif data on your images by the way. Do you take the pictures on manual or auto?

I took the liberty to show you a quick fix on two images in photoshop. I don't know if the colours are more like what they are in your aquarium. It's hard when I don't have the RAW file.

Do you use a stand or do you take pictures by hand?

You have a nice system

Hi Darek,

I use Adobe Photoshop CC.

Go to "Image -> Adjustments" and play around with "Levels", "Curves", "Selective color" ++

Ps. Start easy. It's quick to "over do" it.

Here's a couple of images to show how the Acroporas have reacted to my poor maintenance in November and December.

Sorry for the poor picture quality. Didn't have time to do it properly yesterday.

The Spathulata looked like this in October 2015.

IMG_2749.jpg

Spathulata now.

Acropora Microclados in October 2015.

IMG_2785.jpg

Microclados now.

Acropora Florida in October 2015.

IMG_2809.jpg

Florida almost gone now.

IMG_3938.jpg

This is the last piece I have left from this Acropora who started losing tissue last summer. It's still alive. I am looking forward to see how it develops. (this picture is from the mother colony in February 2015)

IMG_0995.jpg

What's left now.

IMG_3914.jpg

The Acropora Subglabra started to loose tissue in October 2015. And I have struggled with cyano on the coral since.

IMG_2651.jpg

Subglabra now. Looking quite good actually. I think I will brake it off and mount it up again. It's hard to establish a base now when it is just a tip on the rest of the dead Acropora.

IMG_3954.jpg

A little update from the new frags.

Sorry for the poor picture quality again.

Starting to see some colour on the tips on this one! It has also established a small base a lot quicker than I would have hoped for.

IMG_3932.jpg

IMG_3934.jpg

This Acropora Microclados frag is one the bottom. I have mounted two other Microclados frags on the top of the reef. Am looking forward to compare colours and growth.

IMG_3950.jpg

I accidentally broke the tip of the Acropora Sarmentosa when I fragged it. The tissue is almost back now.

IMG_3927.jpg

This frag is new! Doesn't have an ID yet, but time will tell.

IMG_3913.jpg

The Acropora Simplex will be so cool with the red Awi next to it.

IMG_3961.jpg

The red/pink Acropora Awi is almost red/pink again!

IMG_3957.jpg

I am really glad I decided to have the Acropora Turaki in this setup too. This one is a classic!

IMG_3951.jpg

On the to-do list:
  • Get rid of cyano
  • Get rid of algea and get control on NO3 and PO4 with Zeovit
  • Start to add KZ products when I have NO3 and PO4 in control
  • Buy more fish
  • And finally, don't forget to fill up the balling+ containers :p

Sorry to hear that Flo.

Here's a little update. The corals are looking better every day here now. Sorry for the poor picture quality. I didn't have my prefered lense available yesterday.

I mounted one of the Acropora Microclados SSC (Aussie) frags on the top of the reef two weeks ago. Look at it now! And where is the blue colour coming from??

Acropora sp. (Aussie)

Acropora sp. (Aussie) This is looking healthier!

Acropora Sarmentosa frag (Aussie).

IMG_4008.jpg

My deep-water Acropora Island. Acropora Turaki, Acropora Awi and Acropora Simplex.

IMG_4030.jpg

The biggest Acropora Microclados SSC (Aussie) is still brown.

IMG_4001.jpg

This has potential! Acropora sp frag.

IMG_4019.jpg

Green! Acropora sp. frag.

IMG_3994.jpg

Acropora Microclados frag (Aussie). Still green. Will hopefully turn bright with blue corralites and tips.

Acropora Spathulata (Aussie).

I am pretty happy with the development. Only thing that is bothering me is the cyano and some of the green algae that is spreading on the rocks. Have to buy a fish who can help me with the algae asap.
