Thanks, no I don't want to oversize too much. I just don't like buying something and having something new come out very soon after.

Progress is a real bummer   Just kiddin ya. There is always something new and better coming out in this hobby. Unless you just have to have the newest toy (nothing wrong with that) then just stick with what works for you, and there are plenty of "old school" skimmers out there that work just fine.

I just bought the Reef Octopus Xtreme INT-PS-150, I set it up 2 days ago and I have not seen any skimmate! the skimmer cup keeps filling up with clear moisture - like a fog. Where is the water level supposed to be? I have the bubbles midway up in the neck, they are heavy bubbles and they don't seem to be light enough to produce skimmate if that makes sense? I hear these comments that it needs to break in, but if I put my Deltec back on I will get instant skimmate and it's dry right now, I took apart and cleaned my CPR on my frag tank and it's producing skimmate right away. (My Deltec is external, the Octopus is internal, I wanted more room under the cabinet so I am trying the in-sump Octopus). Someone told me have the the skimmer higher in the sump so that the pump is just below the water level - but that drops the water level in the body of the skimmer. Right now the skimmer is in 6 to 8 inches of water. By the way the model I have has the neck that is in the removable top. I have seen some similar models that have the extra neck that extends into the body.
Thanks, Jeff

mine is in 8 inches of water, and water level does not flucuate at all in skimmer area, raise riser tube alittle to bubble are close to top and than let it go for a while to see how it will produce. mine act like it wasn't doing much so i raised it and by morning it was overflowing out top of cup and lowered it all the way back down. Guess it just needed to get past break in period.

Can someone please verify the footprint of the TS/PS 150? Numerous sites claim 6 x 12", although I've heard it's closer to 13" inches, is this true?

Yes, it's 13", not 12".

I'm selling mine for this reason. Won't fit my 29g. Only used it for a week, not even enough to break it in. PM me if interested.

yeah i bought a 30 gallon long hoping to fit it the other way but you do need 13 inches. i still used it it cut down on my refugium area though, works great pulls out thick dark green gunk none of that green are dark tea looking stuff, you can't see through this stuff its so dark.

Ok, Here is a link to the Sneak Peak of the PRO 250.

Keep in mind it's pretty raw, i just threw it together tonight. You can preorder if you want, but we are not sure on height, foot print etc yet, but the price is confirmed.

Looking at the specs, the shallower the water, the more air intake? Is this par for the course? In deeper water wouldn't the pump work less versus a shallow where the pump needs to work harder to maintain the height of the water in the skimmer. Or am I bass ackwards?!?

Jeff, take a breath man, everything you have stated is completely normal in the break in process. It'll fizz like soda pop for a week or two sometimes. The collection cup will steam up as well. Just keep your foam head up about half up the neck at most, then wait. Thats all you can do until the slime coat is built up in the skimmer and pump. The reason your deltec and other skimmer will work is because they are broken in already. HTH

Just purchased a TS-150 today for the new 60 gallon cube I'll be setting up. I will be sure to post my experience once I get it all hooked up.

Nice. Please do keep us updated. This is still on my short list since it looks like a Tunze & esp since the new BK's now have extensions similar to these :D

Please someone verify the height of the EXT-PS-150.
Some sites say 24", others 21.5".

Coralvue's website doesn't even acknowledge their newest product LOL.

Thanks dedfish, that's great news. It will fit!!

It looks like I can plumb my overflow right into the input? I noticed the change of the extreme models combines the recirc input with the open loop input. Will that cause a drop in pressure at that fitting, and try to pull water out of my overflow?

Hi. I'm having the same issue as the previous writer where I have the riser tube as low as possible and I'm still getting a water overflow in the cup. I realize this might just be a "break in" issue, but should I leave it with the cup off so I don't lose so much water UNTIL it's broken in, or is it abnormal for it to overflow so much? Thanks for the help!

Thats abnormal. Sounds like its in to high of water or the venturi or pump isn't working correctly. Can you post a pic of how you have it set up.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the PS and TS models? I am going to buy one, but want to know the difference between these 2 models first. Can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere!
Thanks
janson

found it!!!! It is in the neck design....
lol, see that is how it ALWAYS works for me. I post a ?, then I find answer before responses...murphy's law apply here? Not sure!
thanks
