Octopus "Extreeme" Skimmer Line

Between a Euro-reef rs 250 and octopus PRO which buy

WuHT I think a slightly better question is the Octopus 200 NW vs. Octopus INT-PS150 .. being simliar in price ... Simliar and only in "recommended gallonage"

Which of the two recommended betwen int ps 200 and nw 200 or int ps 150 my aquarium is the 120 gal heavy load

the ps 150 this rank 180 gal, Which buy?

Bye

Hi,

For 180g tank. I would recommend at least the Octopus 200 NW or the PS200 (not available yet, probably few weeks). I think those would be your minimum units to run. I think the PS150 would be too small.

The Octopus PRO250 certainly would be an excellent choice and give you a little "oversized" boost. I think same as the RS250 would. We get a PRO250 in a few days to test out, so can't say how it compared to RS250 yet, but from the pics I've seen, it will probably be as good if not better on performance.

From the specs I've seen it will be a higher quality acrylic as well and a more powerful pump.

Hmm for a 150 gallon acquarium.. would you recommend the NW200 octopus OR the newer INT-PS 150 extreme octopus skimmer OR the also newer TS150 extreme which is 10 dollars more.

I figure their price range is about the same, yet the model class number makes me think that the INT-PS and TS is "overrated" ??

Hi,

We havent' been able to test the ps150 and ts150 yet. I do think a 6x20" skimmer though is probably rated more for around 100-125 gallons. So I do think that manufacture rating of 200 inflated.

I think the NW200 would handle 150 gallon. Or the INT-PS200 (not online yet, haven't got first shipment on that size) or the EXT-PS-200 would be a good choice.

Yes, there next project is making a Recirculating model. Then they will come out with a 10" diameter version after that.

just got the TS-150 , installed it on my 90 gallon tank. no instructions though...How high in the skimmer should the water level be...anyone know

ej

I'd always set the bubble breaking point to be halfway up the neck of the skimmer (not the water level itself, but, where the small bubbles start breaking at the greatest rate) no matter what kind of skimmer or brand it is.

Is the recirculating model based on the same pro pictured here? Or will there be several models aimed at different sized systems? Or if it's easier to answer this bottom line question...should I wait to see what's coming out soon if I'm in the market for a recirculating skimmer to handle ~100gal with an eventual heavy load?

I'm not sure what the Recirculation will look like, but they will be designed around that same pump. So most likely will be a larger skimmer, 8 to 10" diameters etc.

So for 100g, you might want to look at the Extreme line, unless you just want to oversize.

Thanks, no I don't want to oversize too much. I just don't like buying something and having something new come out very soon after.
