OT - Snowmageddon

No power since around 10pm.

Tank got down to 67. Hooked up the genny this morning and started warming her up.

Everyone looks happy, but we shall see.

22 inches and climbing here... I guess my prediction was wrong

When I opened the back door to let the dogs out, a 3' wall of snow greeted us. I can't see out my dormer windows, and half of my 6' fence is buried in the yard. Drifts up to 5' out there. I'm oiling my boots. :-)

Wife is stuck at work in mandatory disaster mode (nurse) so I've got some time to dig out. Malloy closed all roads anyway (but I can drive with my hospital ID if I have to.)

Having some fun in Seymour!!!

sent from never never land...

Hey Mike feel free to help a brotha out, lol. I'm not looking forward to snowplowing the driveway. I really should have went out for a pass or 2 last night. Its definitely gonna suck today, lol

While the mink oil hardens on my boots, my teenager is doing the walks. Then I'm getting the roof rake out... then I have to shovel up after the roof rake mess before I can get the snow blower out.

Oh, which means I have to shovel the gate out...

All while entertaining the 3 year old! Yay! LOL

I got my male clown into the QT this morning in a hurry, he was looking pretty freaking bad. :(

He's perked up quite a bit since going in there, though. Copper seems to give them some immediate relief.

I decided to go ahead and raise the dose before putting the damsels in. The guys already in QT have been waiting 4 days for it, and the damsels can handle it.

That last one looks like my dormer windows. :) I'm getting out the roof rake, which is going to really suck to clean up after... :P

So... anybody want 30 or 35 pounds of dry rock in exchange for helping me clear an oak branch out of my augur...? :)

I still have 3 tons of snow to move, I'd only cleared from the shed to the gate. I am SO screwed...

About 30" on my road which still hasnt been plowed once since the snow began. Wife an i shoveled our truck and driveway enough to get to the road. Anyone in seymour with a loader or big plow feel free to come help. Rd is aprox 100ft dead end and the town seems to forget about us.

I got the branch out with liberal use of a hatchet and some swearing, and was going along good until the chute caught on the side of a tall bank and popped off, giving me the most exquisitely so-cold-it's-painful icy shower.

My yard and walks have gone from "Special Ops Training Theater" to "Passable in the Mountaineering Sense". I'm taking a look at this chute but it's got the distinct look of "Wasn't made to come off this way."

Unofficially I measured 18" of snow, but we had about 2 hours of sleet last night as well and it is still snowing.

Going to eat a good breakfast then start up the snowblower to start digging out! Figured it should take at least 2-3 hours, or at least that is my hope.

Be safe everyone today while digging out!

Official measurement was 24". With a three bay garage (ie a wide driveway) the snowblower couldn't throw the snow far enough. So now I have the right and left bay cleared and a pile of snow iblocking the middle one. Luckily that one isn't used for a car, so it is not blocking any cars.

Argi - you address that by making multiple passes and spending all morning on it. :-)

That lump in the middle is gonna be a block of ice by mid week.

And what good is a generator when it whimsically stops sending the power to the house? Methinks someone didn't hook things up quite right when they replaced an electrical panel before we closed on this place last summer. But just as whimsically, it is working again right now. No idea what is different now than it was at 3am when it stopped. Cranking the heat now just in case it decides to bail again.

That... does not sound like an especially safe situation. I'm not sure I'd trust that gen until somebody checked it out.

It is definitely getting checked out, as soon as someone plows my street and we have power back. It worked like a champ for a whole week with Sandy

If the gen was out side it prolly was freezing up with the wind and snow it got pretty cold I just got done shoveling three side walks and three driveways had to make sure the two 80 year old ladies could get out if they needed to. Got one question what's up with the you get generations these days watched two single ladies shovel there driveways and there sons cars out and they don't even have cars them selfs and they both have 20 year old sons and neither were helping one was even watching and telling his mom what she was doing wrong wow people these days. Sry had to rant

I lost my male clown. I was getting nervous about not raising the cupramine to full strength after the other fish had already been in there 4 days and the e-goby wasn't looking any better. I raised the dose to full and the male clown, who was already stressed, died.

This storm and a few other things screwed me all up this week. I wasn't able to catch and QT all my fish at once and I was getting antsy holding off the dosing. :(
