Picasso / Rodonyx FIRST BATCH OF EMBRYOS

Congrats, We know you've been working hard and looking forward to this day. Good luck and keep up the good work

Huey Man, I am so, so happy for you..... It's ABOUT time! ;)

Lemme know if we can do anything to help you!

You know that you really need to bring them to ChiTown, so Papa (Rod) can come by to check on his Granbaby's!!! :)

I'll make you a deal..... If the Bears beat the Patriots, you move to Chicago before Christmas! If they don't, then you move to Chicago after Christmas..... :p

Huey, Sorry no experience there!

But, there is this local wizard who knows just a little about breeding and raising clowns......... ;)

Call Rod, he'll be happy to help you for a fee (first born, etc!)

I'm praying for a little luck and lots of wisdom for my PA bud!

Boyd :D

thanka boyd/james.! :) ill need it :)

i get my clowns from almost every source possible :) call, call , call all my sources :) lfs, collectors etc... but i focus on developing freindships and not simply for connections.

but to be honest, its just persistent luck :)

Approximately, lo res photo!

Don't get all stressed out about raising the babies. You will have plenty of opportunites to get it right. It is really pretty easy once you get it down, but it may take a couple of batches with low results before you get the hang of it.
Actually, the babies are pretty easy, its keeping your rotifer culture alive for the second and third hatches that becomes difficult.

Congratulations and good luck.

I see that you missed at least 2 so it is 410+
Huey, you are going to be a grandfather 410 times over. Goodluck with the babies.

thanks everyone for the vote of confidence. ive been busy the last few days trying to buy supplies to raise multiple batches at a time. now i know why there are few breeders out there. its not a walk in the park to raise clownfish.

fishgutz, thank you very much :) i thought maybe 200. i was told most first batches are small, so 400 is great :) unfortunately the first batch will be fish food, since ill be away for the next few days.

again, only after 3 months and they spawned, so i was not prepared at all. im in the process of setting up a larval system so i can culture multiple batches at a time, since i anticipate my other 3 pairs to spawn within the year also.

phender, you are right. it does seem raising the rotifers will be the most difficult part of the process. in preparation, ive ordered artificial and frozen rotifers as backup. ive also bought a really nice brine shrimp set up from florida farms. i know many use the inverted soda bottle, but i wanted something a little better, since im going to have potentially many pairs spawn at same time.

in addition, i ordered otohime. i think i have almost every food source that most current breeders are using :)

for the amt of money spent on supplies, i could of bought another good pair of clowns lol this hobby is not cheap :(

i hope to come back from my trip with batch number two. :)

Huey, Glad to see you have the right perspective on this!!! ;)

Hope your trip goes well and look forward to the reports continuing when you get back!

Happy Thanksgiving! :D
