3 blue/green chromis will likely reduce to one or two
2 ocellaris clowns
1 lawnmower blenny
1 diamond watchman goby
1 dwarf flame angle not coral safe, especially for LPS meaty type corals
1 yellow tang
1 powder brown two tangs in a 125 can be problematic, yellow tang must be added last although it still may be a problem
1 green mandarin make sure you have sufficient live rock and the tank is at least 9 months old

These are my favorites. Would like to do as many as possible.

125g long.

I would really like to get a twin spot goby, and I would also like a blue or green mandarin. I'm wondering what size tank is minimum for one or both. I have a 28 right now, so these may be far in the future pets. Also, my tank is only about 2 months old.

Both are difficult but the twin spot is probably the more difficult of the two as mandarins, while dependent on copepods as their primary food, will at least eat frozen and in some cases pellets. A 75 gallon tank with live rock and ideally a producing refugium will sustain a mandarin; a twin spot needs at least that environment as well.

Thanks Steve, L. Carmabi are out of reach, maybe L. Rubre, but probably too cryptic. This is a display tank for my office lobby and I need some interest and color that is readily visible.

Considering the fairy wrasses, but have heard about others such as SDguy having issues with harems remaining stable. Similar problems with keeping chromis or anthias in groups, they tend to pick each other off over time.

Do you have any experience with chalk basslets? How would a trio of those do?

Ok think I have finally made up my mind this time... well almost..
40g 4ft tank, sumpless HoB fuge to be added shortly.

In order of intro to the DT:

1. 1 x Neon Goby (yellow if i can find one, otherwise blue)
2. (1 or 2 x) Green Banded Goby (can I qt together with the neon if I can find them at same store?)
3. 2 x TB clowns 1 true perc, 1 b&w occelaris both juvies
4. a dwarf angel, brazillian flameback if i can find one, or golden dwarf, or cherub.

Chalk basslets are excellent. Their only downside is they put small shrimp at risk.

I think that would be fine.

How about this combo?

How about this combo?

RSM 250
2 fire fish
2 clowns (oscellaris or saddlebacks)
1 flame angel
1 mccoskers wrasse
1royal gamma
1 yellow watchman goby
1 starry blenny
2 kauderns cardinal

What do you think? Any conflicting species or overload of tank (65gallon)?

You have 3 pairs. Firefish and kauderns cardinals must be a M + F. Clownfish must be added as juveniles. Flame angels are not reef safe, but if no corals, no problem. You have several fish with a propensity for jumping so be sure your tank is covered (NOT egg crate)

The other wrasse I was considering was a 6 line. Any conflicts with this wrasse with this group of fish? I want an active fish and have read they are very active. Will the 6 line pick on any of the fish in my group?

It is a red sea max, so totally enclosed. The clowns will be juveniles. How do I ensure a pair of cardinals and firefish?

No so easy. For firefish, which are normally kept at an LFS in 40 gallon tanks, look for two that hang out together. The trick, is, of course, actually netting out those two. Same issue for cardinals, but easier netting.

sixline wrasses can be hyper aggressive towards other fish. I do not recommend them.

ok i have a 135 gallon tank 72x18x24 and will be a FOWLR running a corallife 220g skimmer, fluval FX5, no sump, 100lbs dry rock and 20-35 lbs live rock, crushed coral,no live sand. Fish i would like are: Picasso Trigger, Dogface Puffer, Yellow Tang, Blue Hippo Tang, Jeweled Moray Eel, Cow Fish, a couple Cleaner Shrimp. Let me know how this will be. Hopefully im able.

Unfortunately I do not give commentary on aggressive tanks. However that fish list is WAY overstocked as well as some fish being inappropriate for that sized tank (Hepatus tang) We do have an aggressive fish forum, however.

Hi Steve, I posted this list earlier which you saw no issues with however, Green banded are hard to come by here, but I did see a Hector's Goby today. Could I add one to this list below? (with or without the greenbanded if i ever find them)

Thanks

1. 1 x Neon Goby (yellow if i can find one, otherwise blue)

Still no problem. Yes, you can QT both gobies together given the same source.

28 Gallon (90L). Live rock filter (8Kg present- more to be added), 3Kg sand bed. Sump, yes, chaeto- inversely lit (ie. at night) to the display with LR rubble and activated carbon

Proposed fish;

1 Black and white percula clown
1 True percula clown
2 Fire shrimp
1 Yellow goby
1 Hermit (dont know which type)
~4/5 Money cowrie
2 Nerite snails
(Poss another blenny/goby/dragonet type..)

What u guys think?

I think your stock of fish is fine except your tank cannot sustain a dragonet. My recollection is the "money cowries" are not totally reef safe (a fighting conch would be better) , and I do not recommend hermit crabs because they kill snails for their shells.

Actually this is not a discussion thread since only RC Staff answer.
