I am looking at what I'll eventually stock my tank with. Let me stat with my setup.

75g tank, 30g sump, refugium w/chaeto, 2x powerheads, 70 pounds live rock, 2 inch sand bed, protein skimmer, RO/DI system, etc.

Once my tank is cycled, I plan on adding, in this order:

10x nessarius snail, 10x nerite snail
1x brittle sea star, 1x blue tuxedo urchin
1x carpenter's flasher wrasse
2x blue/green chromis
2x purple firefish
2x ocellaris clownfish
1x orchid dottyback

Eventually once the tank is established, I'll look at adding some soft and LPS corals.

Is this too much for my tank? Or not enough?

Hi, been planning on a bigger tank, been keeping inverts in a 20 gallon with a ten gallon sump for about 18 months now, here's my planned tank:
-40B display w/ 20-25 lbs live rock, 1-2" live sand
-20 gallon sump w/ live rock, benthic zone and a reverse flow sandbed (if I can figure it out, if not a semi-deep bed or maybe some reef mud?)
-10 gallon fuge w/ rubble and macro
Planning on an EShopps 75 gallon rated skimmer, BEAN overflow, coast to coast overflow box, 2 Koralia 4's, 2x Aqueon Pro 100w heaters, a lower flow pump (not sure yet) and a HOB filter.
About 30 lbs of live rock split between the DT and the sump, going for minimalist rock work in the DT.
Current livestock list in DT: Two Clarkii clowns, 8 or 9 peppermint shrimp, 7 cerith snails, 5 nassaruis snails, 2 astrea snails, 1 porcelain crab.
Planned additions once in the 40B:
4 Talbots Damsels, Green bubble tip anemone, 2 purple firefish, and possibly a mandarin goby once the fuge really gets going.
I am concerned about the aggression between the clownfish and the damsels, will this tank be large enough to give them all their own territorries?

1x brittle sea star,

Careful, green ones eat fish

1x blue tuxedo urchin eats coralline algae and is a bit of a bulldozer about knocking off rocks/corals
1x carpenter's flasher wrasse
2x blue/green chromis
2x purple firefish two must be a m+f pair
2x ocellaris clownfish
1x orchid dottyback While P. fridmani is the least aggressive dottyback, it may intimidate firefish

Eventually once the tank is established, I'll look at adding some soft and LPS corals.

Is this too much for my tank? Or not enough?

I would consider it lightly stocked

Those clowns once sexually mature will take over your 40 gallon tank. Unfortunately I am not optimistic about additions with those clownfish

Ignoring the aggression issue mentioned above, you would need to have a M+F pair for them to coexist

, and possibly a mandarin goby once the fuge really gets going.

A smallish tank MUST have a producing refugium for a mandarin to survive

Hey i've been running a 20g tank for a bit now, and am looking to upgrade to a 40b. I currently have a coral beauty, ocellaris clownfish, and a diamond watchman golby. (i know a small tank for these, hence the upgrade)

Once i upgrade i would like to add 1 more ocellaris (if i can get them to pair up), a pair of helfrichi firefish, and a starry blenny.

I will be running a reef octopus bh2000 skimmer and 2 750gph hydor koralia powerheads with about 50lb of liverock. Thanks in advance!

any suggestions for a beginner on what else I could add to the tank?

Unfortunately, I don't give suggestions/recommendations as our tastes will differ. In general, I prefer smaller, interesting fish rather than larger fish (which will consume greater bioload)

Best chance to pair the A. ocellaris is to get a tiny one; firefish must be M/F for long term compatibility. I am concerned that the blenny will compete with your dwarf angel for algae

I'm setting up a new 39 Cadlights, and looking at wrasses. Been a while, and I've never kept a wrasse. Any ideas for a small, peaceful, reef safe variety with good colors?

3 or 5x Yellowtail Damselfish(if I put these in first, could they become territorial to others and attack?)

2x Ocellaris Clownfish(after the yellowfin)

1x threadfin butterflyfish

1x Flame Hawkfish

1x clown goby

1x Flame angelfish

1x Royal Gramma

1x Pennant Coralfish

1x Yellow Tang(last, probably sometime this September)

when should I add the cleanup crew?(snails, hermits, and a shrimp)

is there any particular order I should add my fish to minimize stress and aggression?

LxWxH 60"x20"x24 110gal tank with skimmer and 75lbs of LR, 2" sand bed and no sump(yet).

I love possum wrasses of which there are more th.an one kind. Your tank is too small for fairy wrasses, but some of the flasher wrasses would work.

Damsel fish are by nature territorial

2x Ocellaris Clownfish(after the yellowfin)

1x threadfin butterflyfish

1x Flame Hawkfish which means no shrimp

1x clown goby

1x Flame angelfish not reef safe

1x Royal Gramma

1x Pennant Coralfish

Normally clean up crew should be established first, but they would need to be fed

most aggressive (yellow tang) last

hi i have a 24 gal bio cube and a 20 gal sump, have:
pair of oc clowns
yellow watchman
six line wrassle
would i be able to add a cardinal (not sure if pj or Banggai)
would either one of these work with what i have also do u think the bio load might be to much?

Okay, I am headed down to my LFS on Saturday and I plan on buying a fish or two to add to my tank, but I don't know which ones to add. I have a newly established reef tank with 6 hermits, and about a million baby hermits that were just spawned two days ago, and I have 3 micro brittle stars in there..I plan on my tank being a coral centered tank, with not many fish in there. I like the fire fish, gobies, and mandarins. I know the mandarins are tough to keep, and unless I have an abundance of pods they are not a good option. (but I don't think I would start my tank out with a mandarin, definitely don't have the confidence built up that high yet.)

Does anyone have any recommendations on a first fish? I DO NOT want a damsel. I would never be able to get him out of my tank if problems were to arise..I also plan on putting shrimps or lobsters in my tank as well, so I would need to have fish compatible with inverts too.

I know it sounds like I'm being too picky, but shouldn't I be? To make sure I don't end up with a disaster waiting to happen?

Thanks all,
Jordan

Your bioload should be ok albeit marginal. Your aggression with sexually mature clowns and a six line wrasse is going to be very high.

tank age, tank size? Water parameters? I am surprised you have a million baby hermit crabs?! By the way, there is no reef safe lobster. This thread is answered by Reef Central staff only, at this point primarily me.

Tank age is approx 2 months, tank size is 24g.
Parameters:
SG 1.025
ammonia- 0
nitrite- 0
nitrate- 0
pH-8.3

The hermit crabs were given to me by a friend who had too many because they had been producing in their tank..So they were already in the mood...haha They have only been in my tank for a week and a half though, so if they felt that comfortable that soon I must be doing something right huh?

And by not reef safe you mean the lobster will attack fish? or corals and other inverts?
