Hi again,
I have added these fish
2 clownfish
1 blackcap basslet
1 purple psuedochromis
3 bangaii cardinals-I have read your posts and I may well end up with 2 or 1
1 yellow watchman goby
and have not been able to catch the two damsels
1 four stripe and
1 blue devil (still want them both out due to what will be their high aggression issues)
However, it is a 90g reef tank with lots of "caves" and I would like to add an angel-pygmy or flame-is that going to cause crowding issues and would one of those be okay with a reef tank?

No dwarf angel is guaranteed to be coral safe; your damsels will likely give this addition a problem

Hello, I just thought I'd ask your quick opinion, oh wise RC :)

I am moving to a larger tank, the dimensions of which are 72" long X 18" wide X 25" tall, ~140 gallons with a 40 gallon sump. Plan is for a mixed reef.

Current fish that will be moved in are:

Gold bar maroon clown pair (male 1", female 2.5")
Banggai cardinal pair (both 2")
Royal gramma (2.5")
Snowflake eel (10")

I would like your thoughts on these possible additions (not planning on adding all of these!)

For around the rocks:
1-3 purple firefish OR zebra barred dartfish
1-2 gobies (tiger, diamond or hi fin?)
*I would like the accompanying pistol shrimp, though not likely since I have the eel*

For the water column:
1-3 flasher wrasses (McCoskers or Carpenter) OR 1-3 Christmas wrasse OR 1-2 flame angels

And/or would 1-2 of these larger "show" fish be appropriate given the size of my tank and it's current occupants:

Yellow longnose butterfly

Magnificent foxface
One spot foxface

Yellow tang
Sailfin tang

Naso tang
Powder blue tang
Blue tang

Picasso triggerfish

Thanks in advance!

If I was to add a flame angel to my display and planned on adding an emperor angel down the line would they be able to co-exist since one is a dwarf?

I do not provide analysis of aggressive fish community tanks. Best to post your question here. However several of your tangs require larger tanks.

it is difficult to answer your question in isolation of other fish planned. If they were the only fish, it should be ok.

Checking my stock ideas before moving forward with my next purchase. The tank is a 65g with a 20 long sump and 20 high refugium (being added shortly that is) with about 50lbs of rock work and a 1" or so sand bed.

Centropyge multifasciata pair
Amphiprion percula pair
Psuedochromis fridmani pair
Chrysiptera starki pair

Planned list

Six line wrasse
Kole eye tang

1. Do they jump?
2. Does wrasse need sand to sleep?

This system is a frag tank 4' x 2' x 1'. Bare bottom tank with an open top.

Centropyge multifasciata pair Centropyge multifasciata are very difficult and a pair would be even more difficult especially in this sized tank
Amphiprion percula pair
Psuedochromis fridmani pair
Chrysiptera starki pair

Pairs are difficult unless a bonded pair especially in smaller tanks and in all cases must be added at the same time

The tang needs a larger tank. Six line wrasses jump and are not compatible with a lot of tank mates; they form a mucous cocoon rather then bury in the sand. Are these the only two fish planned for this tank?

180 gal DT @ 6x2x2, 25 gal sump and 20 gal fuge.

Just trying for some ideas, I have pinfish in my tank now but i'm going to put them back in the bay when I get some "pretty" fish. I'm a newb but a quick study and have local friends with years of experience so don't want anything too difficult, nothing too basic either though. Tank is wide open so my thoughts were;

The wife wants...
Pair of clowns and a nem
blue tang
yellow tang

I like...
Yellow tail damsels, few would be cool.
Blue neon gobie
Multicolored lubbock fairy wrasse
Red cardinalfish, can i do a couple?
Brittle star.
Electric blue hermits are petty damn cool too.

Thoughts?

Thank you sir.

The red stop light cardinal caught my eye (Fowleria flammea)...

On the blue tang, I was under the impression that with a light stock list and sparing rock 6 feet isn't too bad on the fish? Could I get a small one and trade it in when it got too large? Or is their an comparable alternative?

Thanks again. :reading:

Thanks for looking at my list. I have had a pair of Centropyge multifasciata for roughly 3-4 months now and they are eating a wide variety of foods for me. Much of this is from the help of Kevin Kohen acquiring them for me and conditioning them for a month in his office tank.

Thank you sir.

excellent; can be kept in groups

On the blue tang, I was under the impression that with a light stock list and sparing rock 6 feet isn't too bad on the fish? Could I get a small one and trade it in when it got too large? Or is their an comparable alternative? we discourage trying to buy fish and then trade them in since large fish are often not tradeable. As an active large fish grows, it will tend to "pace" in a tank that is too short; this drives most people crazy.

Thanks again. :reading:

As follows.. I have a 65 gallon tall tank, 50ish lbs live rock, sand bed, 20g sump, coralife skimmer..

My current stock
-2 ocellaris clowns
-flame angel
-1peppermint shrimp
-miscellaneous snails/hermits

I would like to add
-some sort of wrasse?
-bi color blenny
-royal gramma
-cleaner shrimp
-possibly another dwarf angel (I know there could be possible problems) I've read Pygmy and possible coral beauty could work if I add it last
-or if no angel a yellow tang

Your planned additions are fine subject to an appropriate wrasse. Two dwarf angels can work in this sized tank, but I would suggest an acclimation box.

Awesome thanks for the wick response! As far as what type of wrasse I'm not sure any suggestions? I hear fairy wrasse are peaceful.. I like a 6 like but here they get overly agressive..

Also would I run into any trouble if the next fish I add to the tank is a royal gramma? I hear they have aggression issues as well

A royal gramma will defend a small territory which in the case of a small tank can be a problem. So I would add that fish last. Six line wrasses are not recommended due to aggression.

I've got a 90gal that I'm planning to start up as a FOWLR, and hope to move to reef once I feel more comfortable in the hobby. I have a sump that HAD bioballs, but I removed the bioballs and will be running a marine pure block or spheres in there. My intended list: (this is a rough draft)

Flame Hawkfish
Yellow Candy Hogfish
Horseface Blenny
Blue Green Chromis
Blue Reef Chromis
Purple Dottyback
Blue Gudeon Dartfish
Pink Spotted Watchman Goby
Flame Angelfish * (unsure)
Jawfish * (unsure)
Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse
Chalk Bass * (unsure)
Filefish * (unsure)

I'd also like some inverts, as that is mostly what I'm interested in. Really wanna find a goby pistol shrimp pair.
