Currently have a yellow assessor in my 75 gallon tank. Would it be possible to add a Randall's assessor? Have plenty of rock work for hiding places.

Hi Steve,
I'm downgrading from a 140 gallon to a 30 gallon and would like to save some of my favorite fish:

2 flame hawkfish (bonded pair)
1 midas Blenny

There are some other fish listed below that I'd like to keep, but wanted to find out how many of them can be added to the 30G along with the 2 hawkfish and midas. They are listed in order of importance. At the top is my first choice down to the clowns that are less important to me.

1 royal gramma
1 bangaii cardinal fish
1 red firefish
2 ocellaris clowns

The tank is a 24" X 20" X 16"

I decided not to keep my regal angelfish or the pair of heniochus! :p

1 royal gramma should be ok
1 bangaii cardinal fish should be ok
1 red firefish not with a midas blenny
2 ocellaris clowns

The tank is a 24" X 20" X 16"

I decided not to keep my regal angelfish or the pair of heniochus! :p

Thanks Steve. So are you saying there is room in the 30 G for everything else excluding the firefish?

2 flame hawkfish
1 midas blenny
1 royal gramma
1 bangaii cardinal fish
2 ocellaris clowns

No. Because the clownfish will want to control about 25 gallons of tank space once sexually mature, that stocking list would be too heavy.

McCosker's wrasse
orange dartfish

Hello, name is Matt. About 3 months into a 90 Reef tank. Currently have a pair of clowns, fairy wrasse , skunk shrimp and some snails and hermit crabs. Also a couple of polyps. Looking for ideas for other livestock to add. I've never had saltwater before, fresh when I was a young kid. Have a buddy who help me set everything up. Right now I have about 30lbs of live rock and 50 lbs of regular. Check the water weekly with no issues. Like the little reef lobsters, also been told to look into a yellow tang or something of the sort.

As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. However I am always happy to review stocking plans provided tank size and maturity are also provided. As far as a yellow tang is concerned, there are tangs more suitable to your sized tank

[welcome]

ok, no problem. What other tangs are suitable for a 90 gallon? And from what I've been reading, reef lobsters appear to be at your own risk

Great thanks, also looking into a quarantine tank, but I'll check out some other threads before I start asking questions

An excellent idea. My blog has the quarantine protocol that I use and recommend. However I do not answer questions in this thread except about Marine Fish Compatibility.

I have a 150 gallon tall (48' x 24'" x 30") been running for about 8 months. It's a mixed reef tank, with mostly lps and softies with a few sps varieties, monti caps, birdsnest / stylophora. I have a 40 gallon sump and run carbon and biopellets.
current stock List:
1 ocellaris Clown
3 lyretail anthias
1 kole tang
1 linear blenny
1 radiant wrasse
1 yellow coris wrasse
1 bengai cardinal
1 royal gramma basslet
1 tiger watchman goby
I feel like i need one more larger show fish and was thinking of a mimic surgeon fish variety (lemon peel, or half black). Would this work?

In a 4 foot tank, I would not look to add a surgeon fish or large algae grazer. You have sufficient bioload capacity, but surgeon fish need longer tanks and for some, much longer tanks.

46 gallon 55 gallon sump
About 70 pounds of lr
1.5in sandbed
125 coral ife skimmer
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 2-5
Alk 9.4
Cal 450
Mag 1420
Phos .5 (api so take it with a grain of salt.)

I have two oscellaris and a male mccoskers wrasse a peppermint shrimp brain coral and some zoas and palys.

I wanted to maybe add a female mccoskers wrasse but read that the female should be added first. Do you think this would be an issue? And/or would you recommend another type of wrasse? This will be the last fish I add besides a yellow watchman and shrimp pair.
