Haha ok, Making life easier for me is always a plus. Thank you!

SPS 60 gallon cube (24") with 20 gallon sump. OVERSIZED skimmer and heavy nutrient export via carbon dosing/zeovit/bp. Trying to decide on stocking list..

Thinking along the lines of:

1 Copperband Butterfly
2 Occellaris
1 Flame Angel
2 Bangai Cardinal tank raised, male plus female
2 McCoskers or Carpenters Flasher Wrasse highly active and will eat copepods so there may be issues in conjunction with a CBB; in any case a pair of flasher wrasses needs a larger tank because of their activity level.
3 Resplendant Anthias a group of anthias needs a larger (125g+) tank
1 Midas Blenny may nip fins of planktivores
1 Tailspot Blenny I would not try two blennies
1 Orchid Dotty back or Royal Gramma royal gramma would be better

I realize that is a TON of fish for a 60 cube. Suggestions and eliminations appreciated. The CBB and Occellaris or the only ones I am really set on.

Thanks a bunch.

If a CBB is your primary objective, be sure to introduce it first with no other fish

So how are you going to decide? Majority?

Not quite but close. :) I prefer to get the opinion of multiple experienced people, not to hopefully find someone to agree with me, but to see if there are any discrepancies. If all agree on something then I choose to believe that it is safe to trust in the advice. If there is any disparity then my choices are not safe. As you know there is no guarantee in this hobby so I try to be as cautious as possible and only seek advice from known/tested professionals (such as yourself). Thanks for taking the time to answer my post. I was not thinking of the grazing nature of the Kole Tang competing with the Foxface.

In general, if two fish occupy the same ecological niche, they can still coexist if the tank size is sufficiently large (tank length is the more important dimension as opposed to gallonage). In a similar fashion, if a fish is very aggressive and has a strong territorial imperative, very large tanks can still satisfy that need.

I have a 90 gallon bare bottom DT with 30 gallon sump. 90lbs of base rock that has been in the tank for four months. No coral currently, but in time I intend to have a mix of soft coral and LPS, maybe SPS eventually.

Occupants:
Cleanup crew of Florida Ceriths, Dwarf Ceriths, Nerites, Nasserius, and small reef safe Hermits.
3 Blue-eyed Cardinals
2 Spotted Cardinals
1 Ocellaris Clown

Can I add:
1 Royal Gramma
1 Canary Blenny
1 Yellow Tank
3 Green Chromis

Down the road after tank is well established:
1 6 line wrass or 1 Green Mandarin (I assume I shouldn't have both?)

Thank you!

Ted

2 Spotted Cardinals
1 Ocellaris Clown

Can I add:
1 Royal Gramma yes
1 Canary Blenny yes
1 Yellow Tank you mean tang. Yes, but once established, they are high territorial and will not allow addition of conspecifics
3 Green Chromis three will become one over time

Down the road after tank is well established:
1 6 line wrass or 1 Green Mandarin (I assume I shouldn't have both?) Definitely not both. Six lines can be a royal pain, a mandarin should do fine after about 9 months of tank maturity

Thank you!

Ted

Hi, I have two tanks and my first question is regarding 55g tank.
It is a 55g with 10g sump/refugium.
Current stock include 5 H. erectus plus a sea hare that shares both my 120g and this tank.
I would like to add either a goby, blenny or mandarin and more clean up crew.

Tank two is a reef tank, 120g and 25 g sump/refugium
I currently have it stocked with:
1 lawnmower blenny
1 pink spotted goby
1 coral angel
1 rabbit fish
1 yellow tang
2 banggai cardinals (mated pair)
2 clown one false perc and a percula
4 blue/green chromis
and lps, a few soft, and just two sps
Long term in adulthood will these species be okay together or should I start a third tank?

Adding a mandarin will not work in this sized tank. I am reluctant to suggest any additions to this tank other than pipefish.

I currently have it stocked with:
1 lawnmower blenny
1 pink spotted goby
1 coral angel not reef safe
1 rabbit fish needs a much larger tank
1 yellow tang should not share with a rabbit fish; will be very aggressive towards new additions
2 banggai cardinals (mated pair)
2 clown one false perc and a percula
4 blue/green chromis will become one over time
and lps, a few soft, and just two sps

the rabbit fish needs a larger tank

Added firs fish--tail spot goby to 125g tank last week. Thinking of adding a court jester goby to tank as well.

Is the tank large enough to avoid any cross species aggression issues?

Is the court jester goby a jumper (tank top is open)?

Should be fine. All fish can jump.

The odds of successfully keeping a mandarin long term are very low in this sized tank. All else would be fine.

New tank

New tank

Hallo, ty for your time.my tank details are,., length 100 cms, width 25 cms height 100 cms.it replaces an internal window.enclosed above is an ever grow it2060 sunset / sunrise ,on the default setting.inside tank are 3 power heads of different ratings, strongest one being the highest up,copied overflow from ruajoey on you tube.a single 40 kilo monolith of homemade rock, ( crushed aragonite) and white Portland cement.which I soaked over three months to allow alkalinity to leach out.4 cms of fine and medium sand.tank s about 230 litres minus the rock displacement.below is homemade sump refugium.with,.,weipro sa2013 skimmer.( cheap ,I know) it has a 1200 kh pump and it's pulling out green gunk ok)about 6 pounds of live rock straight out of lfs tank.a homemade algae scrubber,(algae is just starting to show after 4 days,)eheim heater and 1200 return pump.sump is about 35 litres with small led cheats light on scrubber and live rock. I don't expect to be able to have tons of fish in it because it's so narrow, but I would like to have corals.,and inverts.just remembered.a week ago I put in a small pulsating Xenia,it's doing well...after 4 weeks I have ammonia, nitrates and nitrites on zero, temp is 27 oc, salinity 1.025,, there is an abundance of diatom and green algae, 3 to 4 cm long covering my monolith of dead rock. Any ideas on stocking and general advice will be much appreciated.ps,I'm British, living in Slovakia (next to Austria),I can't seem to locate any snails, how could the survive in transit?

Hello Steve, My daughter and I are upgrading her existing tank to a 40 breeder. We just finished building a stand/canopy for it. Since we are about to start the cycle, we figured it was time to finalize her stocking wishlist. We will be moving most of her existing live rock and all of her corals over to the new tank and starting over with all new fish. Currently the only fish she has is a yellow tailed damsel, but he wont be coming over into the new tank. Her cuc consists of primarily hermit crabs and they wont be coming over either. With her new cuc she wants to go with:
a variety of snails
1 skunk/cleaner shrimp
1 peppermint shrimp
1 Brittle Star (at some point down the road)
She has narrowed down her list of fish to the following:
Pair of B+W O. Clowns
Royal Gramma
Purple Firefish or Helfrichi Firefish
Hi Fin Red Banded Goby or Pinkbar Goby
Tanaka Wrasse
Lawnmower Blenny
She understands that she would most likely not be able to have all of them in her new tank. The only must have for her out of the list was pair of b+w clowns. We are hoping you can help us refine/narrow her list by helping us avoid stock that would conflict with each other, out compete each other for food, and with her stocking order. Thanks in advance.

230 liters is equal to about 56 gallons. You could have a fair number of small, non-aggressive fish. As those who follow this thread know, I do not make recommendations for a variety of reasons. However I am always happy to review stocking lists as long as tank size is also provided. Look for small, peaceful, non-aggressive fish.

The stocking list looks good. I see no obvious inconsistencies.

Hi Reef Central, I recently set up my brand new 125 gallon custom tank! So excited, started in July and I currently have about 100 lb of live rock, 120 lb of live sand, 40 gallons sump with large refugium, Apex to control everything, massive skimmer, etc. Tank has been cycled completely, no ammonia, 0 nitrites and nitrates are less than 5. I do have some low PH issues, but it is because tank is not mature enough yet. I added a clean up crew (snails, hermits, boxer shrimp) that's all for now.
I have a yellow tang that I adopted from my friend, so he is in QT now, I have 2 clowns, 2 cardinals in QT as well.
What I would like to get:
1 Flame Angel
1 Bi-Color Angel
1 Schoolong Bannerfish
1 Pearscale Butterfly
1 Copperband Butterfly
Also, I will get a few chromis and anthias just for color (movement)
Will this work?
