I would like:
1 Condy Anemone
1 Blue Tang
2 Clown fish
1 Bicolor Dotttyback
1 Scarlet Skunk Shrimp
few snails

My questions are:
Have you guys had any issues with these species living together?
Does my live rock look ok?
My nitrate spiked and is stable now but the algae isn't where I want it to be to start adding inverts.
How can I get the algae to grow faster?

I have a 26.5 gallon tank set up with live rock, 1 large base rock, and live sand. I have a powerhead and RENA Filstar XP1 and heater.

This is the pict of my set up.

These are pics of my live rock.

Hey Steve! I am new to the hobby (as most ehre might assume) and have seen this lovely thread. I tried flipping through to see if I could answer my own questions, but this thread is a little long for that, so I will go ahead and ask.

65 Gallon 25 sump.
Current Inhabitants:
2x Occelaris (young but seem to be pairing)
1x Bi color Blenny (largish)
1x Brittle star
Assorted Snails and some blue leg hermits
1x gorilla crab :( (trying to catch him still)
Want to add:
Watchment Goby
Royal Gramma
Flame Angel (probably a stretch so I am not set on it)
Fire Shirmp (1 maybe 2)

I of course will not be adding them all at once, but over several months with the angel being last (for tank maturity and aggression) if it even makes sense. Thanks in advance!

All are fine. Use a bottle trap or tilted glass trap for the gorilla crab. reading this entire thread would be very difficult/arduous. I have personally been doing it for almost five years with over a half million views and about 13,000 replies on this part of the thread which is the third split.

Hi again , will a sailfin tang become too big for my 1 mtr high ,1 mtr long , 25 cm wide tank, approx 55 gallons.its about 5 cms long and mostly yellow, will it change much? I think the Latin name is zebra soma veliferum.

Yes, it will get too big quickly. We recommend an 8 foot 240 gallon tank as a minimum for long term care.

Hi Steve, many thanks for the dedication you have here. Really amazing.

So here's my desired stock list, with the desired order going from top to bottom. 125 Gallon, 6' variety, with a 55g sump

2 Ocellaris (already in the 29g quarantine tank)
2 Neon Blue Goby
1 Black Axil Chromis
1 Gold Assessor Basslet
1 Firefish
3-4 Zebra Barred Dartfish
1 Sailfin Blenny
1 Longfin Fairy Wrasse
1 Yellowstriped Cardinalfish
1 Orchid Dottyback
1 Green Mandarin (After a year or so, but to be honest, it will take longer to add all these fish anyway. :) )

I'd really love to add a blue or yellow tang (actually I want both, but realize that's probably not viable)

Many thanks!

Seth

Ok I have a 90 gallons aquarium start 1.5 years ago. Plenty of live rock, like 100-120 pounds, a 30 gallons sump with a refugium (Cheato)

I have already a pair of Clownfish and a Copperband for more than a year

I want to add:
One Spot Foxface (juvenile)
Green Mandarin.....maybe a pair I don't know yet. They are hard to find
Orange Back Fairy Wrasse
Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse
Diamond Watchman Goby
Lemonpeel Angelfish (orange if I find one) OR a Flame Angelfish

I will add a top to my aquarium for the wrasses and probably buying a white worms culture if I'm buying a pair of Green Mandarin

Let me know if it's ok
Thanks

65g tank with 20g sump and the following current residents:

Mated pair True Percs (very mellow)
Firefish
Two red-spot cardinals
YWG with pistol shrimp
skunk cleaner shrimp
numerous snails ranging from bumble bees to turbos
Female Red-Lined Wrasse

Would a male/female pair of Pink Margin Wrasses be too large for this tank?

2 Ocellaris (already in the 29g quarantine tank)
2 Neon Blue Goby unless a bonded pair, only one will work
1 Black Axil Chromis
1 Gold Assessor Basslet
1 Firefish introduce early
3-4 Zebra Barred Dartfish
1 Sailfin Blenny
1 Longfin Fairy Wrasse on the aggressive side
1 Yellowstriped Cardinalfish
1 Orchid Dottyback
1 Green Mandarin (After a year or so, but to be honest, it will take longer to add all these fish anyway. :) )

I'd really love to add a blue or yellow tang (actually I want both, but realize that's probably not viable) a yellow as the last fish will work. P. hepatus needs a much larger tank

Many thanks! always a pleasure

Seth

Let me know if it's ok fine except as annotated

marginal at best. Normally a larger tank is preferred even for one. Males tend to be difficult shippers.

Hello,
In my 125G + 75G sump, I have;

1 pyramid butterfly
1 watanabei f
1 orange back wrasse
2 oscellaris
1 royal gramma
1 tilefish purple
1 black bar chromis
1 firefish purple
1 pajama cardinal

Can I add a group of 5 yellow striped cardinal? Probleme with pajama?
Thank you

Hey Steve thanks for all the great advice.

I want to have a mandarin in my 180 gallon reef tank after it matures. In wondering what fish I should avoid that would compete for food source. My thoughts are no wrasse or anthias, are these family pretty much the big copepod eaters?

I know this isn't the normal kind of question you get, but I'd appreciate any advise you can offer.

Here's what I'm thinking about (still early stages though. trying to make sure I'm thinking straight). Tank will become a mixed reef and is 60x20x21 (110g). Sump and refugium together will be around 30 gallons. Below is my list, not in any order, just what I was thinking.

(1) Yellow Watchmen Goby
(1) Tiger Pistol Shrimp
(2) Skunk Shrimp
(1) Arrow Crab
(1) Pair of Clownfish
(1) Yellow Tang
(1) Two Spot Bristle Tooth Tang
(1) Six Line Wrasse
(3) Some sort of Cardinals (striped or threadfin)

If I read the compatibility chart on liveaqauria correctly they seemed to check out ok.

Thanks!

That should be fine.

(2) Skunk Shrimp
(1) Arrow Crab can take fish
(1) Pair of Clownfish A. ocellaris or A. percula is fine
(1) Yellow Tang add last
(1) Two Spot Bristle Tooth Tang
(1) Six Line Wrasse aggressive, will limit future tank mates
(3) Some sort of Cardinals (striped or threadfin)

If I read the compatibility chart on liveaqauria correctly they seemed to check out ok.

Fine, except as noted
