Hey Steve!

Revised stocking list in addition to my 2 OC clowns, purple firefish and 2 cleaner shrimp...
Royal Gramma
Green Clown Goby
African Midas Blenny
Blue green Chromis
Pink Streaked Wrasse
Thanks

Should be fine. Note that a Midas blenny may nip fins of planktivores.

Thanks Steve!
Would you recommend any don'ts as far as order of introduction?
I like most of us are at the mercy of LFS stock so a particular order might no be possible.
Thanks

On your plan, no critical order. If you can add the midas blenny last.

I have a 180g FOWLR and 40g DIY sump. Hoping to entertain a Voli. Lion a few triggers and a puffer.. was wondering if a spiny box puffer could hold its own.... or if all of the puffer species will hold there own as fish know puffers are deadly. Thanks in advance.

I am sorry, I do not provide analysis of aggressive fish community tanks. Questions should be a thread here.

Ok Steve. I'm, ready with several fish for you to consider: Spotted and Kaudern's Cardinals.
1. Should I get one at a time or both at once?
2. Them being docile, will they stress out over living with 2 clowns?
3. Am I reaching the bio-load limit with this size tank?
4. If #3 is a "NO", can I get 3 or 4 cardinals? -My kids want a school of fish over singles but I don't want the tank to be too crowded. . .
Thank you for your consideration. Tom

Fish: 1 Ocellaris Clown, 1 B&W Clown, 1 Green Mandarin, 1 Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, 1 Fire Shrimp, 1 Corral Banded Shrimp, 1 Arrow Crab, 2 Peppermint Shrimp plus bunch of Bristle Worms and CUC.
Reef: 50 lb. Sand, 70 lb. Rock, Frog Spawn, Button Polyps, Mushrooms, Kenya Trees, Feather Star, and recently, several aiptasias. . . :-(.
Tank: 50g hex, overflow, 20um filter, 23 gal sump, 2 pumps, 3 in-tank circulators, 5 UH fluorescent, chiller 650, heater 150W, skimmer 65, I got it on 7/18/2014 but it is established for over 15 years!!
BTW, Getting the Green Mandarin and Feather Star was an ignorant rookie mistake on my part. . . .

Great thread! Thank you for this!

Here's another for you when you have a chance. I didn't get my tank yet!

28 gal JBJ Nano Cube (intermediate)- setting up as stock. Adding a skimmer.

planning on having about 20 lbs of LR and inch or so sand bed.

for sure.. 2 clowns (That will be moving from my 9 gal tank)

I'd like to get a fire fish (or a pair)
or Royal Gamma

and a goby of sorts. Thinking Jawfish or Catalina?

For inverts, I'll be moving my asst snails over, 2 scarlet reef crabs, and if I can catch my emerald crab, he'll be moving over too.

Blue hippo tang
Pajama Cardinal
Lawnmower Blenny
Diamond Goby
Pink wrasse
Ocellaris clown
Flame angel
Coral Beauty
2 chromies

75 gallon dt, 25 gallon sump

For inverts, I'll be moving my asst snails over, 2 scarlet reef crabs, and if I can catch my emerald crab can take fish once large , he'll be moving over too.

Hello everyone,

I am setting up a new saltwater tank and i would like some input and advice on stocking it. i have created a sort of wish list of the fish i would like to keep but im not sure if it is too many fish for my tank. so i have a 110gallon (60x18x24) with a corner overflow with a 30gallon sump. my pump is doing 1500gallons per hour, so a turn over rate of almost 15. i am also running a skimmer. so here is my wish list for this tank. i am going to use live rock, and i plan on having some sponges, and mushrooms, and some other soft corals, but nothing fancy or crazy.
here is my list:

x2 Engineer Goby

x1 One Spot Blenny

x1(male) McCosker's Flasher Wrasse

x1 Red Stripe Angelfish

x1(male) Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse

x2-3? (female) Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse

x1 Ocellaris Clownfish

x1 Flame or Red Hawkfish ? not sure which is the better choice, if any.

so these two i like but im not sure if they work with what i have above.

x1 Orange Spot Goby ?

x3-5 Chalk Bass ?

any input or advice on this will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

This stocking list should work

[welcome]

oh sorry, one more question. does the stock list work with all the fish on the list, including the Orange Spot Goby and 3-5 chalk bass? if so how many chalk bass should i do? also which hawkfish would be best, the flame or the red?

Yes, all fish on the list. There is no "magic number" of chalk bass. Both a red hawkfish and flame hawkfish are the same fish. you most likely intended to compare a red flame hawkfish and long nosed hawkfish. Both are ambush predators for small fish or shrimp.

Standard 75g w/20g sump. LPS and P&Z's. Current inhabitants consist of:
(2) Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish - (Amphiprion ocellaris var.)
(1) Flame Angelfish (Centropyge loricula)
(1) Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhites armatus)
(1) Dispar Anthias (Pseudanthias dispar)
(1) Mystery Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus ocellatus)
and various snail for cuc.

I would like to add (1) Hoeven's Wrasse (Halichoeres melanurus). In the past I had asked about different wrasses and you said Fairy and Flasher were not a good idea with the Mystery wrasse. Will the Melanurus be a suitable choice?

Many thanks.
