Steve,

I'm starting to finally put fish in this tank. I've had a tribal blenny and a red fire fish forever and I'm adding a flasher wrasse (most likely McCoskers) this week or next. I also have a very small skunk cleaner shrimp. I need something to live in the bottom portion. I have a ton of caves and hidey holes down there, but not a lot of sand. My sandbed is half an inch to an inch and is even bare in a few spots.

I was thinking about a jawfish. What are your thoughts on that with so little sand. Would a shrimp goby (without the shrimp this time) like the YWG or Yasha be better? Would they have any issues with the tribal blenny?

A jawfish would feel very insecure without the capability of making a home. A shrimp goby would do fine without a shrimp and there are a large variety, all with the same behavioral profile. However with the aquascape your describe, I personally would opt for one of the Wetmorella complex because I love their semi-reclusive behavior patterns. Long lived and wonderful coloration.

Hello Steve, I am planning to add some fish to my tank. I was wondering if you have any comments on the potential additions. So far these fish have lived peacefully with each other for a few months.

Tank dimensions: 96" x 20" x 20" (about 200g total water volume)
Skimmer: Bubble Magus Curve 9
Mixed reef, majority LPS/softies, few SPS, two plate sized anemone (sebae and RBTA)

Current livestock:

2x green chromis
2x Onyx clownfish
C. Temminicki wrasse (full size terminal male)
Melanurus wrasse (male)
Orange shoulder tang (5" juvenile colours)
Yellow tang (3.5")
Hippo blue tang (4")
Flame hawkfish
Antennae goby (paired with pistol shrimp)
Coral beauty (2.5")
Starry blenny
Lyretail anthias (female)

Planning to add:

blue throat triggerfish
marine betta
squarespot anthias
yellowhead jawfish
pyramid butterflyfish

What do you think? Is the bioload currently/potentially acceptable?

palani tang I have never kept this fish but my recollection is that they get too large for your tank size. See this.

Fine except as annotated

Ok so I changed up the list a little. its a 75 gallon tank and my list of fish that I am currently looking at, at my LFS are
These are what I really want
1 suntail goby
1 bar goby
1 hoevens wrasse
1 mandarin goby (am waiting for 6 months to a year on that though)

and these are what I am considering but not sure what will be to much
2 occelaris clownfish
5 or 6 blue green chromis
1 firefish
2 yellow headed jawfish
Am also wanting to do corals down the road but do not want to even get into that until my tank has been up and running for a while.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

Lfs has a tomini and kole in the same tank that get along and was wondering if it would be ok to get both for my 90?

there is a big difference between keeping fish in a tank at the LFS and keeping them in your tank. Once established they, being in the same ecological niche, will have territorial issues on feeding. I do not recommend two tanks in a 90 gallon tank.

5 or 6 blue green chromis I do not advocate chromis; first, a group will winnow down to one or at most two, and more importantly, they are highly susceptible to uronema marinum
1 firefish
2 yellow headed jawfish If you have the sand/substrate

what else can I get?

what else can I get?

I have a 125 gallon with about 100 lbs live rock and 2 emperor 400's that I have been using. I just started the tank 6 months ago and I have had a choc chip starfish, 2 osc clown fish, a cleaner shrimp, and a fire shrimp, sea urchan and a misc clean up crew of snails and crabs. I just purchased a coral beauty angel, a powder blue tang, a long nose hawkfish, and a moorish idol (probably wouldn't have bought the moorish idol now that I am reading about how hard they are to keep but its too late now and I will just see how it does). I will be keeping these in a 30 gal QT for a few weeks. using some water and live rock from my established tank. I just bought a 30 gallon hob filter I to be used for the QT and I was thinking of adding the 30 gallon filter to my tank until I get a sump built sometime in the next couple of years. So my two questions are should I use the 30 gallon hob filter for my main, and, could I have any or all of the following fox face rabbit fish, yellow tang, or blowfish with what I already have. I know tangs could be an issue but what would happen if I put the yellow tang in at the same time with the others I just purchased?

I would not try to add a yellow tang to the existing tank. As this thread is only about marine fish compatibility, other questions should be asked in your own thread.

Everything Good?

Everything Good?

Hey I just joined and was hoping i could get some help on stocking. I have a 34g solana running a hydor slim skim nano and a hydor ATO. It's already cycled and has a citron goby, some star polyps, and an unidentified zoa frag. It also has a cuc consisting of a red-legged hermit, two chestnut snails, and a nassarius snail.
The rest of my stocking plans to go as followed:

Oscellaris Clown pair
Firefish
1 or 2 sexy shrimp
Possibly other small mid range swimmer?
Hammer coral
Toadstool
Assorted Zoas

Would this stocking be okay in this size tank? Also I need ideas for another active fish if the stocking would work.

current plan is fine; I suggest not looking for an active fish in this sized tank.
