Questions about adding an additional pair of clown fish to a 205. Current stock list

1 PD Brown Tang
1 PD Blue Tang
1 Yellow Tang
3 Purple firefish
2 Blue Flasher Wrasse
1 Mccosker's Flasher wrasse
1 Exquisite Fairy Wrasse
1 Mystery Wrasse
1 Scott's Fairy Wrasse
2 Clown (Red Head Wrasse)
1 Leopard (meleagris)
2 Leopard (bipartitus)
2 Diamond Gobies
1 Lyretail Anthias
3 Orange Anthias
3 Bartlett's Anthias
3 Ignitus Anthias
1 Chromis
2 Black Osc/Perc always confusing the two.

The Black clowns are pretty good size, they seem to have paired up but are both roughly the same size about 1.5-2". I have had this pair for about 2 years now, and they have taken a liking to my Orange Crush Echinata. The Echinata is about 2" away from a tiny rose bubble tip anemone in the front corner of the tank. I have purchase a pair of "Black Ice" oscelaris at a local swap, the pair are at most 1". Right now they are happy in my fuge tank, but I would like to add them to the display. What are my options of adding them to the DT?

Clownfish do not like other clownfish. Your existing pair are just reaching the point where bonding will normally occur (you will see the "male to be" shimmy in submission to the "female to be"). For sure, once this occurs, they will be intolerant of other clowns. While your tank is fairly good size, it probably is not large enough for two pairs. I have a friend with a 500 gallon tank that had to remove one of each of two pairs he had to avoid world war three.

I'd love to have some thoughts on my beginning tank and a dew pointers as far as my selection of fish so far and to come!
25g nano reef, with 3 stage filter (a pretty humble setup, especially after reading some posts),

Don't worry about comparisons, we all start somewhere

but I change about a quarter of my water weekly. My tank is about 2 weeks old, and I got live sand and LR from the aquarium store I shop at, so made for an easy setup, but here are my current residents in Casa de Reef (I named my tank).

Is your tank fully cycled? I would not put any inhabitants in until it is

2 oscellaris clownfish Once sexually mature, those clownfish will own the tank and not be friendly to other fish
3 emerald crabs Not a good idea, they can take fish if hungry
1 sallie Lightfoot crab Definitely not a good idea, sounds like your LFS is giving bad advice on inverts
4 tiny electric blue hermits Again, I would always suggest snails not hermit crabs

I want this tank to be a coral tank so I've gotten from what I've researched a modest cleaning crew, but here are my hopeful future residents
1 bangalaii cardinalfish
1 Pygmy blue angelfish or fishers angelfish a cherub angel or dwarf angel would work, but it is not reef safe to corals
1 six stripe wrasse definitely not. very aggressive
And lastly a hardly group of coral to finish things out! That would put 6 fish in a 25g tank with some inverts and hardy coral to round things out. Thoughts suggestions and advice is always welcome!

clownfish in a small tank make other fish more difficult once they are mature.

I have a 20 high that I am setting up for a pair of clowns. I really want to maximize the comfort for the clowns until I can get a bigger tank. I think PVC or terra cotta will be my best compromise between swimming space and hiding space because rock will take a lot of room.

I plan on getting a mated pair of Australian Black Percula. I am interested in a skunk shrimp for cleanup, but don't want it to go after the eggs. Will the shrimp be a good choice, or should I stick to snails?

For the purposes stated, I would use snails and no crabs or shrimp.

Thanks for the response, and will Cirrhilabrus solorensis be okay with just one female? Or will i need two or more to spread out the aggression?

300G, 96"x30"x24".

Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurum)
Blotched Anthias (Holanthias borbonius)
Candy Stripe Hogfish (Bodianus sepiacaudus)
Red Velvet Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rubrisquamis)
Blue Star Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon bipartitus)
Mccoster’s Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri)
ORA Domino Clownfish Pair (Amphiprion ocellaris)
Blue Throat Triggerfish (Xanthichthys auromarginatus)
Blue Dot Jawfish (Opistognathus rosenblatti) (Too shy?)

Thanks for the advice and if you don't mind me asking how should I proceed with my reef mates not going to get along in the long run?

Well, we titled this thread check out before because it is much easier to prevent problems than to attempt to fix them. Normally I would advise taking out incompatible inhabitants. Unfortunately one of the "rules" of aquaria is that larger tanks are more forgiving, whereas smaller tanks exacerbate issues.

females keep the male interested in displaying, so only one is needed. Aggression is usually directed an conspecifics rather than at females.

300G, 96"x30"x24".

Purple Tang (Zebrasoma xanthurum)
Blotched Anthias (Holanthias borbonius)
Candy Stripe Hogfish (Bodianus sepiacaudus) semi aggressive and definitely not crustacean safe
Red Velvet Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rubrisquamis)
Blue Star Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon bipartitus) make sure tank is mature; while these fish will eat frozen, they are also prolific grazers for copepods. Usually best to prazi them as they often come in with internal parasites
Mccoster’s Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri)
ORA Domino Clownfish Pair (Amphiprion ocellaris)
Blue Throat Triggerfish (Xanthichthys auromarginatus) Not really invert safe
Blue Dot Jawfish (Opistognathus rosenblatti) (Too shy?)

Not too shy. I would make sure you have an adequate sand bed, and if it were me, would build a couple of PVC homes that are buried in the sand bed. You will also need live rock rubble. Note that these fish do best in cooler water, so that would be my primary concern.

LiveAquaria

LiveAquaria

It's a little late for this since my fish arrived today. I had been reluctant to order online, but heard such good things about this place that when I saw the Saphire Damselfish they had I started putting together an order. Before they got here, I had 1 royal dottyback, 2 clowns, 2 neon gobys and a yellow cheeked wrass.

Today, I got the Damselfish, a blue eyed royal dottyback (who's very interested in, but not aggressive towards my reclusive royal), a splendid dottyback and a trio of Paletail Chromis. Tonight, there are 2 problems. One of the Chromis is struggling. He is very stiff and has a hard time with the currents. Most of the day he hid, but tonight he's back with his buddies. The other problem is my Red Claw Cuapetes shrimp was not in his bag. The fish all came in black bags, the only other bag in the shipment was translucent and only had a piece of macroalgae in it. I posted a note to LiveAquaria as soon as the fish arrived this morning, but have not heard back from them.

One thing I was impressed with is the size of the fish compared to what is sold at my lfs for the same price. The royal dotty I got today is twice the size of the one I got at my lfs for the same money. Don't know if the blue eyed variant is a premium, but he's prettier as well.

BTW: they are in a 100gal with 20gal sump which has been up a little over 2 months.

Live Aquaria is excellent to deal with. Give customer service a call and all will be resolved. Let them know that one fish is struggling as it puts them on notice.

Tanks not running yet, but I've been giving some thoughts to live stock. My specs are - 90g display. 30g (roughly) sump w/fuge section. Euro reef RS100 skimmer mix of dry and live rock (90lbs). ATI 6 bulb sun power. LPS and softies. Possibly a clam.

My fish I would like to keep
Mated pair of false perculla clownfish
2 firefish
1 or 2 yellow headed jawfish (approximately 4 to 5" sandbed w/ rubble)
Royal gramma
I really want to try a flame angelfish ( maybe before I sPend much on coral)
Mandrin fish (after 1 year and adding pods to the fuge section)
Any other suggestions for reef safe fish?

After a year, it should work

questions about my fishys

questions about my fishys

I have a 75 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump about 1.5-2inches of live sand and over 80lbs of live rock a wave point light 4 bulb 2 daylight bulbs and 2 actinic blues
so far in my tank i have a few different fish:

2 Maroons
1 sixline fish
1 bangaii cardinal
1 long tip anemone
1 pin cushion urchin
a few turbo snails

my maroons are still little but are very loving to each other and to the sixline and the same with the sixline he seems to enjoy swimming with the maroons. the sixline is very interested in the anemone as well....will he get eaten by the anemone? he has swam through it numerous times and dint seem to bug him or bother the anemone any...my bangaii cardinal just sits on other side of tank doing his own thing the clowns will swim near him and none of them seem to mind the others presence. im wanting to add more fish just to add some more color or activity in the tank any suggestions on good tank mates? or do i have more than enough already? any feed back would be wonderful ^_^ (am eventially wanting to add corals and such for a reef tank already have mushrooms growing all over the place)

This thread is designed to provide commentary on fish compatibility both with each other and with the environment that you are providing; however we do not really recommend fish since our tastes and budgets are unlikely to be the same. Also recommendations are sometimes difficult once existing tank mates preclude some choices.

The maroon clownfish, once sexually mature will be incredibly aggressive and will own about 50 gallons of your tank. A sixline wrasse will be aggressive towards most water column fish added after it. If you are desirous of corals, mushrooms will make that very difficult, although that is not within the scope of this thread.

okay sorry was just wondering if i should not add any more because of the agressive nature of the fish i already had in the tank...
