This has been done in the past (by cutting the nem in half), and the general consensus is that they take months to heal, much longer than BTAs. Unless you want to kill the nem, I suggest not cutting it every two weeks as you proposed.

Pictures please. It did not happen unless you posted a picture .
I agree with D-Nak that it took longer to heal than BTA, at least mind did.
There are good record that a healthy Magnifica can be cut with general success.
IMO, there is now evidence of Gigantea can be reproduce asexually with at least some success. How much success for the Gigantea is unknown at this time. I think I am willing to frag my Magnifica but not Gigantea with current knowledge that we have.

Not to derail this thread, but in case others see this and are considering cutting up a gig, a word of caution: we have yet to see someone actually document this procedure with photographic evidence. A couple of us have gigs that were apparently cut and have healed, but the reality is that we don't know how they are cut and if it was even an intentional cut, bilaterally through the center of the mouth. I could be that during the collection process it was accidentally cut, or a rock fell on it and cut it open, or it was cut by other means.
Large carpets do not live in colonies in the wild. Some BTAs and mags do, and the reason for this is that they divide on their own, forming clones. Because of this, it makes sense that they can be propogated.
I kind of curious...what do you mean until they get mini. The mini-mag carpets are a different species. If you clone, which is what you are doing, you will still get the original in duplicate, which is not a mini.
