We used a brand new tube of silicone. That first picture was from a tube that was in my garage for a few years.

Just buy some aquarium-safe silicone. They sell it at your LFS or in the glues section (Paint Department at Home Depot).

Marc--did you get the pictures I emailed you on Sunday?

do you need to take a coarse grit sand paper and rough up the acrylic before you silicone it? i thought silicone wouldnt stick to acrylic.

when i was building a sump from a glass 55g, i used acrylic baffles with silicone. when i filled it up for the first time it blew out the baffles seperating the refugium zone from the return zone partly because i didnt equalize the water in each chamber, but also because the acrylic baffles just slid right out of the silicone...

I thought the same thing-

Because the overflow is in the corner of the tank usually, silicone does fine. The water pressure of the display is pressing the corner overflow even more into the glass walls.

Definitely let it cure for 24 hours before you even do a water test.

Marc- if you were to have an overflow that was roughly the same height and depth but spanned the entire length of the 29 would that be ok too?

makes perfect sense to me :)

On a positive note, Evan's absence did lend me the time to finally catch up to the end of this thread!

However... I did some snooping on the internets and may have found out what happened to our silver surfing host-

CaulerpaEvan-1.jpg

I've heard a rumor that the California Dept. of Parks and Rec is willing to take a break from fighting their caulerpa battle on their coastline to help Evan out...

The last show I was listening to was begging people to post in this thread.

I never even knew you had a thread.

Congrats on passing the tests, and your new office? I think thats what I read.

Real life < Internet "RC" life.

Get with the program, champ.
