Radion Gen 4 Pro

After watching the video I see a design flaw. The new HEI optics extend past the body of the Radion shining light in all directions, making unpleasant viewing angles. It's noticeable in the side by side comparison of the G3 and G4. The TIR lens doesn't have this problem unless your looking up at it.

Hopefully I'm wrong but that's what I see in the video. Left side of the tank looks brighter too.

I saw the same thing and is quite disturbing.

Based on the video, it appears to me that these will be best used when mounted inside some sort of canopy. There was clearly more blinding light hitting the camera from the G4.

It is a video though, and it is possible that the actual issue is not being reflected accurately. As usual, we'll find out once people start using them in real-world scenarios :)

LOL, what?!

I'll believe this when someone gets their hands on one and actually controls it with their Apex. I got screwed when I bought a Vectra L1 based on "hearsay" from Tim Marks.

I preordered one and have an Apex, so I should be able to tell you when they ship.

The previous versions did not immediately jive well with WXM Apex either. There was a notorious glitch with them and it took many months for them to get the kinks worked out. So it's possible the same thing could happen here.

I noticed that also when watching the video
I just bought me sa G3 Pro a few months back (still waiting on setup) but that really bothered me that the G4 lens go below it and was annoying to see

I guess as of right now i like how the G3 is compared to the G4

Cant wait to finally get my tank setup here in the next month or so

I guess I don't understand the complaint regarding the new G4 lights?

The compliant is that the light spread is larger and the light is brighter?

I think the complaint is that it would "appear" the G4 lights leak more light to the sides than the G3 lights. I don't think anyone but Ecotech knows the answer to this yet...

I'll give you an example. I have two G3 lights over our rimless tank in our family room. It's an open top with no canopy. Sitting on a couch across from the fish tank, there is light shining out of the G3s. I personally am used to it, but I do recall it being annoying at first and a few guests have complained.

So...if the G4s bleed a significant amount more light from the fixtures than the G3s, that could kill their ability to be used in general house rooms unless using a closed canopy.

I pre-order mine and it appears they have started shipping out. UPS says it will be delivered by this Friday!
I have an open top 120g (no canopy), and the couch is adjacent only about 4 feet away. I'm concerned with light bleed as it would directly affect the viewing angle of the TV.

I guess I will find out soon enough.

Please let us know because this is what I'd be concerned about. It looks like Ecotech won't offer a puck upgrade from G3 to G4 which is lame... I hope they at least offer a replacement HEI lens upgrade.

BRS has a new youtube video out on these that tests the par spread. They compare the spread with real par numbers between the G3 and G4. Pretty interesting and I'm a Kessil user.

Great video, as always. What I gathered from that is the difference isn't huge when the lights are closer to the water, but as you raised them up and let the light "spread its legs", there is really a big difference in the consistency across the coverage area. Very nice.

I'm hoping that the UPS guy speeds so that I can swap my Gen 2's out before work while my wife is out.
