Current Situation

Received the Gen 4 Pro yesterday and installing today. Can wait to get this setup and start to test Par measurements.

It works well *except* that it doesn't control the two new channels, but Neptune has, well, check what I quoted from another forum by RussM, a guy in the know.

Here's the real scoop regarding Radion G4 fixtures and the Apex & WXM:

Radion XR30w G4
The XR30w is fully compatible with the WXM.

Radion XR15w G4
The XR15w has the same 6 control channels as the XR30w G4 and prior generations, so it probably works fine.

Radion XR30w Pro G4
It does work on the standard 6 channels, but the 2 additional channels new to the G4 Pro (Violet and Warm White) are not controllable - the 4 violet LEDs and 2 warm white LEDs remain off when used with a WXM. One might say that it works as if it is an older Radion Pro w/ the WXM.

fine.

Radion XR15w Pro G4
Based on specs not actual testing, it should be the same case as the XR30w G4 Pro.

Neptune Systems is looking into adding support for the two new channels in the XR30w Pro and XR15w Pro.

I can confirm that is the case. Need reeflink for this at the moment.

my brief review..

Noticeable to the eye difference in lighting away from the light. PAR dropped about 100 directly beneath the light with the same intensity settings as G3. I'm using the WXM so I only have 6 channels on. With the other 2 channels on I'm not sure how much the PAR would increase there.

I'm not going to say my corals look happier or all my tank issues are solved...it's been 2 days, I will tell you my wife wasn't happy though.

Is there a big difference between the Gen4 pro vs regular?

I am placing 2 units over a 2 foot mixed reef. I've decided to go with Radions XR30 , not sure which model.

The WXM will require a firmware update in order to control the 2 additional channels.

I know Neptune was working on it. Is it live?!?!?!

Hopefully the Vectra can become WXM compatible as well.

I better finish painting so I can go check!

Does this mean there is collaboration currently in place to get the WXM Firmware updated?
If so, this is great news. Any chance we can get an ETA?

I installed one yesterday. I simply added one to my tank. My tank already has decent coverage, but now it has great coverage with a lot of overlapping light spill.

I use WXM/Apex so I am not getting the full effect of the new light channels yet.

It does appear like I have really great spread now. Everything is lighting up really well.

Yep, same here. I have a coral on the side bottom of my tank not liking the additional par. gonna find it some shade. :)

Much better than the Gen 2's I was running. The G2's left visibly low light areas along the front and back of my 150DD. These G4 Pros cover the entire tank nicely.

BRS's video really highlights the glare but after a few days sitting next to it, it is a non issue for me. No one has mentioned the glare at night. I love the new lense and the spread on my lagoon 50 (30inch wide) is perfect! I installed and loaded the coral labs AB+ preset and kid you not, my coral have responded almost immediately with better polyp extension and deeper color every day. This is a huge selling point for me with led's..."set it and forget it" I was constantly messing with the spectrum on my Aqua illumination and my coral were not liking it. Color was fading and polyp extension was mediocre. I started with AI's first led and finished with hydra 52 and primes. I had success with them, but only after tons of trial and error. Never have i seen such a quick reaction using this preset with the radion.

Anyways, I love the new light and if Ecotech keeps up with coral labs research and pushing the envelope on led's, they will earn my money.
