Reef Octopus "POV" PRO-SSS-DC1 thoughts?

Didn't know it was used hmmm wonder if the person that sold it had the same problem ?? Did you ask.....

U know you can run your tank with out a skimmer for a short time, just feed less and more water changes....

I would push real hard for exchange under warranty if you can, may have to pay a little extra also.... seems like you just got a lemon....push for warranty exchange....
 
I was wondering the same thing if the person had it for two weeks and had issues and put it up for sale and got frustrated not knowing if it was defective. I just started up my 120 so I have no fish in it not for a couple of weeks I'm just skimming right now maybe I will take your advice good advice and call them see if I can process a warranty claim

Mine still, is all over the place. One minute's it's over flowing, next min it's not building enough head pressure to the 6" body

I have to set my alarm clock every night at 3am, to check it, cause I don't want it overflowing

Today for the first time, I'm getting a small amount of skimmed water filling it slowly

I specifically asked him about replacing the entire thing under warranty. His response was that I would ship it back to him and they would contact the vendor I purchased from for a refund or credit...

I bought it used here on the fourms, it was 2 weeks old

I was sitting in my home office over the weekend, doing something on the computer, when it lost it's head pressure

It was like it went into feed mode, but not all the way. Then it came back on full force, and was over skimming to the point it over flowed

If I hadn't seen it for myself, I would be puzzled as to why it keeps over flowing. It's done it 3 times, not many, but enough I have to watch it all the time

They only been in production a few months, so I'm sure they would warranty it, but then what do I do for a skimmer while were shipping parts back and forth if needed

He originally wanted me to send my pump in for repair/replacement, but I didn't want to be without a skimmer during all of that, especially since I'm running biopellets. Had him send me a new pump/parts so I could keep my skimmer up and running.
 
They have been very responsive, asking lot's of questions, I sent 2 video's in, so far I believe their going through their process
 
From everything I've read, and you can see the brown gunk it's pulling out, I used Live Rock to cycle faster. The skimmer takes 3-4 weeks for bacteria to accumulate on the impeller, and break in. I've read during the cycle period, it's good to get the skimmer up and running, and broken in, so when the time comes to add more of a bio load when fish are added, the skimmer is operating properly, and broken in
 
No, but it's going to give " some " bacteria in the water column. I'm running it more so bacteria grows on the impeller , and it's more consistent when the time does come in a few weeks, and I add fish

Mind took 25 or so days to break in, and that was with a high bio load. I would set the bubble break below the white collar on the skimmer neck and just leave it there. As it breaks in it will start to rise. There really isn't much to skim right now. What setting is the pump on?
 
Setting is on level 4

It's starting to be more consistent

I haven't had a problem with it now in a few days, and I'm not dumping the body every 8 hours now

Body is filling up once a day now, I think as everyone here said, as it breaks in more, the body will take all week to fill up like Normal ?
 
Still haven't heard back from Jeremy... Pretty annoyed at this point as I've been more than patient and still do not have a properly function skimmer (that cost me $550).

Just emailed Jeremy requesting a new unit be sent to me. Honestly feel that even they manage to figure something out with my skimmer, and the problem in general, I'll always have an inferior product. Not to mention I've been dealing with this for a rather long period of time and am simply done!

I just joined don't really now how to navigate through this . I just jumped in. I should have done this awhile ago . This probably would have directed me to the right set up for 180 gallon tank. Its been up about 4 mounths . I got eshop 200psk it hasn't really collecting any thing .

There so many skimmers . I want a good one for my 180g . my head is sniping. So i call reefspecialists. He said go for Reef Octopus POV DC2 Space Saver Protein Skimmer is the most up-to-date skimmer out there . & other company's are going to follow this one . Mike was very helpful & very experienced in this area. So I order it on 7-20-13 ...& then got nervous looked up pov dc2 reviews & then saw u guys, It was great Saw u guys had videos & keeping up with the progress . So I'm curious how its going for u guys . Can u guys please tell me something an update . & also any ? U got for me. I'm also curious if this message want through so any feed back from any one will be greatly appreciated thank u.
