Reefbreeders/(Evergrow OEM) Fixtures D120/IT20** series

Hmmm not sure what to get for a 55 gallon. I was looking at the ATI Sunpower but I love the idea of led's. I looked through the thread but didn't see anything about 55 gallon tanks. Would one Photon 32 be sufficient since my tank is 48" tank?

It would be perfect! I have 2 of them over my 180g and freinds have 2 over their 220g and 240g.

Thanks! Wasn't sure there would be enough light for the edges of the tank.

I agree with the 32" fixture with 99 LEDs (I have 2 with a third 2080 on the way) as it is easier to customize the light and dial it back if to much. And, depending on your layout and what you want to keep it might not be to much. I had a 54 with 2 D120's (110 LEDs) and it worked for me, but the 2080 is much better and has come down in price. Reef Breeders suggests using their 4' optics layout (middle third with 90* optics and both ends with 120* optics) to fill in the edges more. And use 90* optics on all Red & Green LEDs to minimize the disco effect.

Thanks for the info!

Opps, typo should have been use 120* (or no optics) on all Red & Green LEDs to minimize the disco effect. Sorry :-(

How comparable they light up tanks to a metal halide. How difficult the programming is. A picture of the layout of the LED colors.

Someone have already try this fixture NOVA A8 22" Controllable LED (evergrow)? I can not find a review. :reading:

what choice I should make between IT2080 - 99 3W 479$ and Nova a8 - 96 3W 415$ :hmm2:

wow.. the new supernova! cool. I think it will all have to do with how wide your tank is. If it's only 18 inches wide or so go with the IT2080. If it's around 30 inches wide or so, I'd go with the Nova.

I switched from 1000w of MH, 160w of t5 and 100w of led (1260 watts total) to 2 EG IT2080's (480w at 100% and I never get above 75%) and wouldn't go back to MH for anything. The leds are a more 'focused' light, i.e. shine straight down rather than reflecting all over the place. So there is a bit more shadowing under ledges and bigger corals. The underside of really big colonies may struggle a bit more from lack of light than with MH or t5. But I think that is a very small effect... at least so far in my tank.

They are easy to program. EG didn't provide great instructions early on. I hope both EG and RB are doing a better job now but I don't know. It's not hard.

There are dozens of layouts in the Chinese led thread in this forum. You don't want mine. I changed mine after I got it. I used a 3:2 blue to white ratio and it was whiter than I wanted. If I were doing it again I'd go at least 2:1 blue to white and probably even go to 5:2 blue to white. Just understand that the white leds can washout the blue leds a lot easier than the blue leds can add color into a white led. I'd want a slightly blue (just slightly) at 100% power. Dim the blues a bit if it's too blue. If, on the other hand your fixture is too white, you'll dim the whites a lot more to get some blue tint into your light.

Understand, I'm no expert, I'm just giving you what I know from my experience and what I've picked up from others and agree with.

I just want to add that I've had my 2 x photon 16's from Reefbreeders, with the standard LED layout on my 80g sps only tank for 3 weeks now and I'm very impressed. I started at started my settings out at 20% and ramped up weekly, now at 50%. The lights are so bright that I feel they've matched my MH at this %. Right off the bat I noticed continued and perhaps even better growth with my SPS. I'm trying to be as unbiased as possible. So far. Very impressed.

I was also looking for reviews on this light before I order it.

I have been running mine at 90% and 40% (blue and white) for 4 months now. My PAR meter tells me I'm right where my 4 250w MH were before I switched. And my corals are doing great. Be careful not to go too far with ramping them up and burning some corals.

I think you mean 30 inch wide go with IT2080 and 18 inch wide go with Nova. I hear it's better to have leds together for the mixing color it's true or not ...

the IT2080 is meant for standard sized tanks that are rectangular in shape. The Nova was meant for tanks that more cube shaped. Each Nova should cover a 36 inch long x 30 inch wide area if I'm not mistaken. The IT2080 can cover a 36 to 48 inch long tank, but probably no more then 20 inches wide.

this thread is making me want to upgrade!!

currently have 2 150watt MH 14k on a 40 breeder

what do yall suggest??

photon32? with what optics?

24? what optics?

thanks!
